Hi,
A chip inside my dvd drive has burnt because of short circuit. The bottom metal lid of the drive touched the soldered pins of the chip and it burnt. I had a burning smell coming from my pc, so I opened it to find that the smell was coming from dvd drive. When I opened it ( 3 yrs old, warranty already expired) I found this burnt chip.
Is there any way to repair this now? The local LG service center has informed me that it can not repait it.
Turn off the Toshiba laptop, remove the AC adapter and any other peripheral devices, and close the lid.
Turn the laptop over.
Touch an unpainted metal surface to discharge any static electricity. Release the battery lock-usually located near the back of the laptop-and remove the battery from its bay.
Remove the screw holding the DVD drive in place.
Where the screw is located depends on your Toshiba's model, but in newer laptops-particularly the Satellite-the screw is located next to the Toshiba sticker.
Unlike the other screws, which are embedded into the laptop, the DVD screw is even with the rest of the laptop's surface.
Gently pull the DVD drive from its bay to remove it from the laptop
hope this helps
