A chip inside dvd drive burnt

Hi,
A chip inside my dvd drive has burnt because of short circuit. The bottom metal lid of the drive touched the soldered pins of the chip and it burnt. I had a burning smell coming from my pc, so I opened it to find that the smell was coming from dvd drive. When I opened it ( 3 yrs old, warranty already expired) I found this burnt chip.
Is there any way to repair this now? The local LG service center has informed me that it can not repait it.

New ones are under $50 now. Just replace it. You must make sure you get one with the same cable connection though. Take the old one with you. There are two different types.

What causes mains fuse to blow ?

A large short!. A short is a hot wire unintentionally touching ground- a metal piece of the frame. It will immediately cause sparking and blow a fuse. Also, an electric motor can have an internal short and blow the fuse for that circuit.
To find what is blowing the fuse, you have to follow every circuit that fuse protects until you find the source of the short. Look for burnt wires, like maybe too close to exhaust. Also a shorted wire can be bundled within a wiring harness, touching other wires and blowing a fuse. Since it is a main fuse, you will probably need a wiring diagram to trace all the circuits which that fuse protects. Try to isolate parts of circuits, like disconnecting the electrical connector at the ignition switch and then see if a new fuse blows. Keep working through each circuit like that until you see results. If some part or component is disconnected and the fuse doesn't blow, then you may be onto it- it could be that part you disconnected, or the wiring associated with the part.
Find a wiring diagram and see what all is part of that fuse. Good luck.

Why doe a fuse on a yth2348 law mower keep blowing

1) Something is shorting before completing the circuit. Look for any bear wires that may be touching the metal of machine, nicks or burnt spots on wires. 2) Overload on ampherage. For more information you might try visiting the Lawnmower World Forum. They have a lot of helpful ideas and more experienced people.

How do i remove the cd dvd drive

Turn off the Toshiba laptop, remove the AC adapter and any other peripheral devices, and close the lid.

Turn the laptop over.

Touch an unpainted metal surface to discharge any static electricity. Release the battery lock-usually located near the back of the laptop-and remove the battery from its bay.

Remove the screw holding the DVD drive in place.

Where the screw is located depends on your Toshiba's model, but in newer laptops-particularly the Satellite-the screw is located next to the Toshiba sticker.

Unlike the other screws, which are embedded into the laptop, the DVD screw is even with the rest of the laptop's surface.

Gently pull the DVD drive from its bay to remove it from the laptop

hope this helps

Disc got stuck in a Lenovo H320

1) Unplug the computer from power.

2) FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out
(Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside your computer.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

IF you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

3) Facing the front of the computer the LEFT Side Panel removes.
At the rear of the computer, and on the back edge of the Side Panel, are three Philips head screws to remove.

One towards the Top, one towards the Bottom. Along that edge. There is another screw on the bottom, below the screw on the edge, and towards the middle somewhat.

Use the fingergrip molded out of the back of the Side Panel, and pull the Side Panel towards the back of the computer, then lift off.

4) Remove the Front Panel. (Proper speak for Lenovo = Front Bezel)
Once the Side Panel is removed there are three tabs on the Front Bezel to depress.

These look like flat plastic 'fingers' with a flat hooked end. They are molded out of the plastic of the Front Bezel. They go through slots in the metal framework of the computer case.

Ease the Top plastic tab towards the OUTSIDE, and ease the Front Bezel out a little, at the top.
Now go to the middle plastic tab, and ease it to the outside.
When the bottom plastic tab is eased towards the outside, the Front bezel will swing off. It is just a cover.

5) Now look for a tiny hole near the optical drive's tray.
(CD/DVD drive = optical drive)
Straighten out a paperclip, and bend the end over so that you have a little handle.
Put the straightened out paperclip in the hole, and push in. This is a manual override, and makes the optical drive's tray come partially out.
Then you can grab the tray, and ease it on out.

If there is no manual override hole, you'll have to disconnect the power cable, and data cable, and remove the optical drive's mounting screws.
Then remove the small case cover screws for the optical drive, and remove the disk.

Have a simpson 2002 65-647 fan forced oven. fan stopped working yesterday and blew a house fuse. What is the likely problem and is this am easy fix?

Hi - you have an electrical fault somewhere in the oven, it has to be a short circuit to earth for the house fuse to blow.

Likely causes - the elements have short circuit - may have a hole visible on the elements somewhere, wires have come off or burnt off due to loose connections and touched the metal frame, or the fan has shorted out...

It may well be viable to obtain the services of a repairman, it maybe a simple issue as above, then again perhaps not..

Switch turning ac off

Check the wiring of the fan motor and the compressor itself. There is some short circuit that trips off the circuit breaker or blows the fuses. Do the following isolation procedure:
  1. Disconnect the fan motor from the circuit then turn the ACU on.
  2. If the switch does not pop up then the fan motor is the culprit. The windings are probably damaged and shorted when the fan fell down. The fan motor bushing/bearing are most probably damaged and caused the rotor to touch the stator and eventually damaged the windings. In this case replacement of the fan motor is the key.
  3. If the switch still pops up, disconnect the compressor then run the fan motor.
  4. If the popping up of the switch disappears, replace the compressor. You may need the service of qualified appliance technician to do job.
