Select the pictures that you want to move.

Then right click one of them and choose cut.

Then go to the folder you want them in, and right click and choose paste.

That will move them over for you.

I have documents written on Vista which I wanted to transfer to an older laptop with XP - they came up looking like a russian weather report. Will the two machines talk to each other or must I uninstall...

You should be able to save the documents generated under Vista based software into a format compatible with the XP version of the software. Open the document in Vista and check the options to "Save As" and select the format that is downward compatible with your XP version document software.
Let me know if you have any other problems or questions. Thanks.

When I transfer documents to my advent vega I find them in the in the documents folder but when I try to open them I get the message application not available. Where do I go from here?.

Well, I need more specifics to answer fully, but perhaps you moved WORD documents and have not installed the Office Suite on the new machine. The program that wants to be called when you try to open a document MUST be installed, or you get the message that you are receiving.

Dear Friend
I will rather suggest you for the LAN instead of data transfer cable. By using LAN you can share Data, Documents, pictures, printers, faxes, and storage devices at High Speed.

Please check if the chart was done with Microsoft 2007 or 2011 and then transferred to a computer that does not have the same version. If this is the case, install the same Microsoft office version and try opening the same file / even try printing it.

You should just be able to drag and drop it. Simply open a documents window with the flash drive (assuming you have the sdhc card adapter; if not you can buy a USB reader from Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc) and one with your photos and "Drag and Drop"
