AV Net is for controlling devices with your Hitachi remote. Your PS3 does not use standard IR or RF technologies for it's control, and uses Bluetooth instead.There is a Logitech Harmony adapter that will allow Harmony remotes to control the PS3 however it won't work with AV Net.

You should get a new remote control. TV manufacturers don't spend mich time or effort finding codes to all appliances. If you get a remote that can learn codes, it doesn't have to be in the ir codes list.
No this is not true. you can purchase wired controllers for the PS3 usually at a greatly reduced price than the wireless models. Most larger PS3 retailers should have stock of wired control pads so it would pay to do some more ringing around
