Cooktop cracked suddenly just after cooking

Not exactly "safe" to use. If I remember right in my travels, Algona Iowa had a used and vintage appliance parts store. I am sure there are plenty of others out there but I know they exist.

What would cause my electric range to lose all power when using the oven?

One thing to check is the power where it plugs in to the wall. Remove plug and look at male blades on plug. See if any are discolored or burnt looking. If any are replace the cord on stove and have the plug in wall replaced too. If they are discolored or burnt you must replace both parts. You also try to jiggle plug around while it's plugged in to see if that has any effect.
If everything seems ok at outlet, UNPLUG UNIT and remove cover over terminals where line cord connects to stove. Check for burnt terminals ans burnt wires. Also make sure screws are tight.

How to remove the front of a ftat top range

see this guide and fix it. God bless you
Instructions
    • 1 Disconnect the power to the stove by turning off the breaker in your fuse box. Test the stove to ensure that power has been disconnected by turning on a working burner and making sure it does not get hot.
    • 2 Open the oven door.

    • 3 Remove the two bolts from the underside of the front of the cooktop, located just above the door jam, facing upwards.
    • 4 Lift the entire cooktop to access the burners, which are attached to the bottom of the cooktop.
    • 5 Remove the two screws from the brackets that secure the burner that you would like to remove, then remove that burner.
    • 6 Disconnect the wires connected to the original burner, then plug them into the new burner. The wires can be removed by simply pulling them out of the terminals. Be sure to mark which wires go to which terminal.
    • 7 Align the grooves on the top of the new burner with the grooves on the bottom of the glass cooktop, then secure the new burner using the brackets and screws that you originally removed.
    • 8 Lower the cooktop, then re-secure it with the two bolts that were removed from the bottom. Close the oven door.
    • 9 Restore power to the stove to complete the installation.

Discoloration on ceramic top

Hi- High temps make for tricky maintenance of glass or ceramic tops. The heat element must pass its heat energy through the glass or ceramic and into the pan. Water droplets will steam away, while a spatter of oil or even a few grains of sugar will melt and burn to a tough film of carbon on the surface. The obvious preventitive measures of checking pan bottoms thoroughly before contact with clean (yes- very clean) cooktop surface mean most spots may be small, they can be annoying to look at and tough to remove. My best cleaning results for these spots came from using a VERY small amount of OVEN cleaner (use gloves) on a paper towel placed on spot for a few minutes. A clean, new razor blade may be used to scrape off film. Hope this helps. - Thanks- ED

I have GE Profile glass cooktop. After cleaning

you can safely use a razor scraper such as you would use to scrape paint. It will not harm the surface and then you can polish it with the cleaner.

Dacor PGM365-1 gas cooktop - blue LED for one of the burners quit working. Can I replace just the LED or is it included as part of a larger assembly?

I replaced my led light with one from Radio Shack its a 5mm Blue led part number276-314 it was about $3.00. I connected it with solderless connectors for telephone wires also from Radio Shack. I covered the connections with heat shrink tubing. I fished out the light without taking the face of the stove off. I did all the work outside in the front of the stove. I checked it to make sure I had the polarity right. Then I fished it all back in and used rounded needle nose pliers to put the light back in. It all works like a charm. Im not sure if it will go out again. I did not fix whatever caused it to burn out in the first place but I thought it was worth the cost under $10.00 to try it out. I will post if it fails again.

Help in Removing Frigidaire Smooth Cooktop Burner

What holds the spring assembly onto the bar assembly is just two small prongs. Use a pliers on the end that protrudes through the bar, squeezing the prongs together, and it should come out fairly easily.
