Question about Computers & Internet

Unknown chip Hello, I was wondering if you knew what this chip circled i red on a motherboard for a PS3 was and what it does? There is another just like it marked 30 and there is continuity through the chip. But this one has no continuity through it. I was thinking it could be some sort of "fuse" chip and it may have blown. Please send me any ideas you may have or refer me to someone who might know. Thank you!!

What does jumper j1h3 do

Oh, there it is in the second problem you posted. Intel 945GCZ,

Hmmm, lemme see.................Junction 1 Header 3,

Dunno, the wonderful(?) motherboard manual doesn't state it.

The Southbridge chip is an Intel 82801 (ICH7)
Right next to the 4 SATA connectors. Are talking about that jumper block with 3 pins, next to it?

LEAVE IT ALONE!
That is the BIOS configuration jumper block.

Has three pins. The outline around number 1 pin is a square.
The outlines around pins 2 and 3 are circles.

Pin 1 is towards the outside of the motherboard. Towards the I/O area.
Should be that the jumper block is on Pins 1 and 2, for normal operation.

Computer Wont Boot after Removing Display Chip

Hello,
Sometimes when this happens to me there are several things that I try. Remove the memory module and reseat it firmly and then try to boot again. Most of the time, this is the problem. If not, then try resetting the bios.

Thanks,

Bartie,

First we need to properly identify your processor. You can go to AMD's website and under their Support and downloads page download a utility that can properly Identify your CPU Through codes it can read off of your chip.

If it is an Athlon 2800 this tool will tell you so. (Then it is likely your BIOS on the Motherboard just isn't recogniing it properly)

If it is an Athlon 2600 (Which I think is the more likely one) You may have purchased your Athlon from a less than reputable dealer. Who either remarked the chip themself or purchased it from a remarker at a discounted rate.

OK so now your wondering what is "Remarking" . This is when a chip dealer aquires a large amount of lower end chips then modify it by jumping some leads on the chip making it run beyond its intended rate (A process called OVERCLOCKING) and then prints a higher end processors stamp on it allowing them to sell it at a higher cost.

I hope this helps you
Dave

Audio driver

Without knowing what sound chip or south bridge chip you have on your motherboard it is impossible to know what sound drivers you need. Use a program like "Unknown Devices" available here: http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html to determine the model of the sound chip on your motherboard.
