Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
I've had this console for a few years now, and it hasn't had any problems until recently. It loads discs just fine, but will freeze seemingly at random during gameplay. I've tried different games, and it happens with them all. I read that some slims had problems with overheating and put a fan on it, and while it does run noticeably cooler, it still freezes. So, is this a problem with the laser or what? Is it something that I could fix, or do I have to send it in for repairs? Thanks for any help.
You should check the laser lens when you have the tray open. If there is any dust build up on it, take a can of compressed air and blow off any excess dust. You want to avoid touching the lens at all. If that doesn't help then it may be time to send it in. Call Sony for pricing information at 1-800-345-SONY.
