Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

HP Pavilion notebook Model No DV2224EA Product No RY395EA. On pressing the start button almost immediately there is a long beep followed by two short beeps. The computer than seems to stop functioning. The screen remains blank at all times and the boot process stops. I have been told this may be a system board problem but if it is I must send the computer to HP as the board cannot be purchased on the open market. The computer is out of warranty so is it worth the hassle?

Thank you for your advice but still no joy. The graphic is integrated which I assume brings us back to the motherboard. Starting to look expensive.

Hello, I have exactly the same product and model, with exactly the same problem. HP technical support informs me that the grahpics card within the main board is faulty.

They quoted me £270 to repair (almost better to replace the notebook).

Apparently this is a common fault, although HP is not prepared to to pay for, even though they are aware of the problem.

So if you have a HP dv2000 series notebook under the 1 year warranty, I strongly advise to pay for a 2 year extended warranty as the chances are high that it may not last more than 1 year.

This doesnt mean that it's the motherboard, you could have other hardware probems that the beeps refer to depending on bios version, sometimes pressing F1 continues the boot, if so then the time and date should be checked, if wrong, then it's a cmos battery replacement thats needed, this beep can refer to also the graphics or the memory, so if you are able to locate the memory bay, remove and reseat the memory and try again

Describe your HP Pavilion dv9000z 17" Notebook Laptop PC PC Notebook Problem it won't boot up, it lights up but nothing else

Does it make a beeping sound when you turn it on? If it does try this:
Turn it off and take the battery out for about 2 minutes. Put the battery back in and press the power button to turn on. Immediately tap the F8 key on your keyboard. This will bring you to the advanced boot options. Choose last known good configuration.
If that doesn't work you may also try choosing system restore in the advanced boot options and follow the instructions. Note that a system restore brings the computer setting back to a previous restore point.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,

I would like a user manual for my HP desktop computer, or one that I can download and read it. Product No. BV574AA#ABA HP S2031a

Unfortunately the product info you have given is from your monitor. Don't worry though, here are the instructions to find your desktop's model.
1. Press the start button and type in dxdiag, one search result should show up, go ahead and open that . (If for some reason it didn't work or you're using a version of windows older than Vista, press the windows flag on your keyboard and the R button at the same time, so windows flag+R, and type in dxdiag)
2. Check under systeminfo and look for your system model (for me it's "HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook PC", so it would be listed as simply "HP Pavilion DV6")
3. Go to this site and look for your system model you just found. Click on it and it should allow you to download the manual

Graphics card failure. There is no cure for the problem at HP but see if your model is on recall (as some are) or phone HP to find out if you can get a free repair for their poor quality cards

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop

This can be a Hardware issue.

Try the steps below :

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
Note : Please see that there are no external devices or cables connected to the Notebook.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

If the Notebook starts normally, the issue is resolved...

However, if the issue persists, I recommend you to try removing and resating the Memory(RAM) of the Notebook by following the instructions available in the Manual which can be accessed from the link below :

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf

Find the required instructions to remove and reseate the memory starting from page number 128 of 278 in the Manual.

If the issue persists, it can be a Hardware issue for sure.

However, HP had identified some hardware issues with some Notebooks.

Get the Product Number of the Notebook which can be located form the bottom of the Notebook indicated with P/N and check if it is listed in the list available in the link below :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01300427#c01300427

You can get the Notebook repaired for free if it is purchased and currently available in US or Canada.

Find more information about this from the link below :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c01087277&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Hope this helps...
