Question about Canon 730i Laser Printer

Open Question

Auto delete memory

In summary, I want to either auto clear the memory after a successful transfer via email or increase the memory by hard drive or memory card. Currently at 40mb. Can the memory on the Canon LC 730i be cleared after a successful transfer? I had the machine set at one point not to save in memory. This is a problem if the network goes down, because the email transfer only retries 3 times and then the fax is gone. Only record is the transmission confirmation which is a partial first page. Later, I turned on memory retention and now when the memory becomes full, the transfer of email starts to fail. If I delete some of the older faxes in memory, the newest faxes that have not transferred begin to transfer. Can I increase memory beyond the 40MB or even add a hard drive to manage these faxes via the internet interface?
I have all the manuals and software, but no answer is clear on the above.

I have a print job stuck with the status of formatting. i tried deleting with no luck.

Sounds like an issue with the hard drive. Try disconnect the hard drive and boot up the machine, see if the message is gone. Then put back in the hard drive and reboot. If message persists you can try a memory clear in diagnostics, but it erases some settings. If problem still there replace hard drive.

I've got a Compaq Presario PC with a 40 G hard drive. The drive is at 99% full. How can I move some files to a new laptop I have with a 320 Gig hard drive? Joe C.

Any images, pictures, movies, or other personal files can be burned to a CD or DVD which can then be transferred to your new laptop.  Upon successful transfer, you may then safely delete the files from the full hard drive on your Presario.  Since your hard drive is so full, you may need to move files in small pieces since space is required to "burn" data to CD's or DVD's.  You can perform a "Disk Cleanup" which will delete files in Recycle Bin and Temporary Internet files.  To do this, Right-click on the Hard Drive, Click on Properties and click on the Disk Cleanup button.

CODE U2

A U2 is related to a memory failure. May be a bad memory chip or main board. BUT, before we get drastic and move in that direction there are a couple of other things that I have seen cause that.
So, first I have seen the chip on the back of the drum cartridge cause that problem. You can try removing the drum cartridge and powering on the machine without that installed. See if it just comes up with a J2 code then. Or even a CH code. If the code changes you may simply have a failed drum cartridge.
Sometimes memory corruption can occur and you can clear it using this procedure..
