Make sure you are connecting the modem to the internet or WAN port of the router.

If you are using DSL, see if you can access the set up page of the router. The router set up page would vary per brand. For Linksys for example, type 192.168.1.1 on your browser's address bar. Get to the set up and set to PPPoE and enter the username and password provided to you.

Turn off the modem and the router. Turn on the modem first and wait for the lights to be stable then turn on the router.

How to get a connection of WI fi when we don't have a password for it?

Why don't you have a password for it? If it's coming from your router you should know the password. If it is not coming from your router, then you are out of luck.

I have lost the security code and have a new laptop, how do i set it up to work

Hi!

If you don't remeber the wireless security code, maybe you still remeber the user and password to access the web management interface of the router.
Then you have to connect the laptop to the router by using a network cable. Open a browser window, type in the IP adress of your router and check the wireless setup section. There you can find / modify the wifi security code.

If you don't know the router's IP adress, then open on your computer a ms-dos prompt and type the command
ipconfig /all

it will display your current IP adress, subnet mask and GATEWAY. The gateway adress is the router's IP adress that must be typed into the browser.

If you don't remember the user and password for accessing the router's web interface, please refer to the router's user manual in order to reset it to factory default configuration, and then proceed as for the first installation of the router.

Hope it helped,

Bogdan

Cant connect my sons nintendo 3ds to the internet

Hello. For setting up an internet connection with your Nintendo 3DS, you have to follow these easy steps:

1. Turn on your console and go to System Settings
2. Tap Internet Settings
3. Tap Connection Settings
4. Tap New Connection
5. Tap Manual Setup
6. Tap Search for Access Point (Here, your Nintendo will search for any wireless connections in range. You will see a status message: Access point found)
7. Look for a Wireless connection (if it's not yours, you have to know the password in order to acces other's connections) Every locked/unlocked connection has a lock/unlock icon. Acces the unlocked icon and then you are connected!

Note: If you didn't manage it / if you don't know your wireless security key / if you are not sure which wireless connection is yours or if you don't see any, please leave a REPLY.

I hope I helped!

I have an I4 phone. The only wifi I can connect to is Linksys. I have other networks available but don't know codes to join with. What to do?

Hi there!

It is possible that the Linksys wireless doesn't have any password/WEP key to connect that is why your phone can connect to it. You can't the other networks available if you don't have the password/WEP key. It has password enabled to prevent unauthorize connection to the wireless. I suggest you subscribe to your own wireless connection so you don't need to worry about connecting to any wireless network available.
