Sounds like a defrost problem try turning it off and leave it off to allow time for ice to melt (about 2-3 hours)then restart if it gets cold again in the fridge its definately a timer or heater problem

Hotpoint Future fridge freezer - freezer working well but top of the back of the fridge has a large build up of ice ??? And doesn't appear to be keeping the food cold enough

here are lots of things that can cause cooling problems. One of the most common causes of poor cooling in a frost free refrigerator is a defrost system failure. In such a case one or the other compartment may appear to be keeping proper temperature but that too may change in a short period of time. The fridge compartment's temperature rise is usually (but not always) the first to be noticed. Frost" and "Ice"
There is a difference between "frost" (a white, snow-like substance) and "ice" (usually clear and solid). When referring to what is seen during an inspection, please keep this distinction in mind as the possible causes for each are often very different. The Defrost System
Inspecting the (usually rear) wall of the freezer compartment for a frost build up is necessary. (In the case of many GE top freezer models, check the freezer's bottom panel.) If there is a frost coating on it, it is often a sign of excessive frosting beneath it. Sometimes however the evaporator cover panel will actually need to be removed (see the illustration below) before an excessive frost build will visible.
The refrigeration system's evaporator (cooling) coil is usually in the freezer compartment. This evaporator will periodically frost over and have to be defrosted by means of a heating system. When the defrost heating system fails, the frost can accumulate to such a degree that airflow throughout the appliance is hampered. There may be just enough air circulation to cool the freezer section but that will eventually stop too.

I have a hotpoint fridge freezer FUFL 1810, there is a puddle of water appearing on the kitchen floor coming from underneath the unit any help please ?

its the evaporator try its mounted above the compressor

perhaps the freezer has quick defrosted and the try is too full

use a towel and soak all the water off

check the freezer balast fan is running ok and fast enough {good speed}
or the freezer can reach a state where it just melts a little of the ice monster

so

my adivce is the run your food in it down
then completely defrost it
and you need to clean all the pipes that go too the evaporator tray
and then dress them with salt

they are usually at the bottom of the V shaped channels both at the back of the fridge
and also behind the freezer rear wall
it usualy has a panel with a few screws or pop plastic pins
that allows you too get too the blast fan and the evapoator V shaped channel
that guides the water to the evaporator pipe

so it prob needs something done with the frost free unit
i think its just got too the point its gummed up

with ice and the fan isnt working efficently anymore

Quadrio hotpoint fridge freezer, gas recharged six months ago by BG homecare 400 engineer. It is now 30 months old and last week the freezer packed in again. A bg engineer came back today and said th

defrost it fully
and clean the pipes that leed too the 'evaporator' and dress the V shaped guides for frosting liquid with salt
and clean it with bleach
you may need to replace the blasting fan its located behind the back panel in the freezer

so leave it off a few days
clean it with 5% bleach water solution

then remove the back panel of the freezer compartment
then check out the fan
and any issues with this will leed too just the very bottom of the freezer working

so replace the fan and clean out the pipes
if you dont then it will just ice monster inside the back again
esp if the fan is no good
and the jobs a goan

these guys just want to visit and go away...
deal with getting the parts and get a local guy to fit it in
a universal type is available on ebay ive used many times
for like a 5er....

Fridge freezer

there is a fan inside freezer behind back panel. if pipework behind panel is covered with ice, it will prevent air circulation and the fridge is affected first

take back panel off and check for ice build-up and that the fan is working

Freezer ok fridge warm (15 degrees)

You have a hotpoint mistral f/f i take it in silver..

Check to see if the fan is running at the bottom on the back of the fridge its next to the compressor behind the panel ...
if the compressor is running and the fan is not then your fault is the fan..

IF the fan is running then its the sensors...

These are located in the freezer section, pull out the draws and remove the panel behind it.... six screws.......... you will c threes plugs at the top ledt hand side.. the yellow one is for the fridge the green one for the freezer.... replace both if your freezer is not working...

Also just below the freezer door there is a panel remove the panel and use a vaccumm to clean the fluff that has built up on the coils..

hope this helps if you need anymore help dont hesitate to ask...

by the way the sensors are called evap thermistors...
