Switch NumLk off

Usually this is done by pressing Fn & F11 keys together

Or just look for the key that has NumLk on it and press it together with Fn

HOW CAN FIX INVALID ELECTRONIC SERIAL NUMBER

In otherwords you are seeing the Activation screen?
No problem!

Primer:
When Windows is installed on a computer, is assigns hash values to certain major hardware components.

Examples such as;
1 Processor
2) Ram Memory

3) Motherboard, (To be more specific; Motherboard chipset, and BIOS program, and version)

4) Harddrive
5) Graphics chipset

Change any two of these hardware components, and Windows will 'think' it is being stolen.

(Windows: "Hey, this isn't the same computer I was put on originally!")

[Microsoft user's license states One GENUINE copy of Windows per ONE computer.

Microsoft makes one Master disk of the Operating System. From it all GENUINE copies are made, and sold ]

Primer over.

When the activation screen comes up, click on - Call Microsoft
I feel it is better to speak to a real person in case there are problems.

Before calling, have the Serial Number of the computer written down, to give to the nice representative on the phone.

This is in a white Service Tag, on the back of the computer, or up on the side of the computer tower.
S/N = Serial Number

After you click on Call Microsoft, the screen in front of you will have a series of blocks.

The top blocks (6) have number/letters in them.
The bottom (6) blocks do not.

The representative will ask you what you wish to do.

ACTIVATE

You then read off the number/letters in the first box, to the representative. Speak CLEARLY, and make sure the representative understands each letter/number.

Go to the second box. Do the same. Do this for all of the boxes.

When finished the representative will state to wait one minute.
(More like; Hold On)

The rep will come back, and state letter/numbers to you.
Put your mouse cursor in the first empty box. Left-click once.

Type the letter/numbers you are given.
Make SURE you understand the representative! IF NOT, ask the rep politely to repeat.

After you have filled the first box, the cursor will automatically jump over to the second box.
Type the letter/numbers in.

Same thing for the 3rd through 6th box.

When finished go back through all the boxes, and repeat back to the rep the letter/numbers. Make SURE they are CORRECT!

When you are finished with the last box, there is a period of silence.
You are supposed to know that you have to click on ACTIVATE, at the bottom.

Click on Activate.

That's it! Say goodbye to the nice representative. Your genuine copy of Windows is now Activated again!

{By the way. You have a new Windows Product key now.
The one in the holographic sticker on the computer is no good now }

I used a shredder on my hardrive and I put in the windows 98 number in the registration page and it keeps coming back as an invalid registration number

Are you sure this is a valid number? I mean check the numbers especially for zero and the letter O. They will usually try to put a line through the zero to distinguish it from the letter. Let me know if this works.

I have bought nero 7 and although I have followed directions, I am still unable to load it onto my computer. It keeps informing me that the serial number is wrong. Where am I going wrong?

Are you using the "-" key between each characters or typing it in a a whole, could be an issue. Also uising Capital Letters can affect code also. Try and keep the same as what you see. Also make sure your not typing in zeros where the letter o is or vice-versa. Also Install without serial number if you can, and when it completes go into nero and change license to your key. I bought online and downloaded it with the demo license provided and then afterwards change it.

When typing letter J, on a MS word, number 1 comes up instead of letter J on my Acer Aspire 3690 laptop/

You need to go to control panel, select region and choose the region suited to you, ensuring the keyboard selection region is the same.

Fix it utilities will not accept my Serial Number:8311-0271-00003-TBYW-MGG6-OVPA-4RPW

Serial numbers for some applications need to be typed in, not copy and paste. Make sure you use the correct case upper or lower.
Make sure the Zeros are the Number and not the capitol letter O.

In the number you give it looks like there are 5 number "0" and 1 letter "O"
Also if you did'nt actually buy the program but downloaded it from the internet the serial could be blacklisted by the software company. If you did buy the product and it wont accept the numbers then take it/send it back to the retailer.
