One option is to do a reset to the whole computer but be warned you WILL LOSE ALL YOUR FILES. now if you still want to go on what you will do is when you turn it on hit the F9 key and it will take you to recovery mode are it should
eric .when you write BOOT do you mean you can't se windows logo do you have 1or 2 HDD's.when clear CMOS YOU RESETT BIOS.if you done that BIOS is empty.go into BIOS and set OPTIMAL DEFAULTS.FIRST GET THE SYSTEMCLOCK RIGHT TIME. let me now how it goes.
there will be a setting in the BIOS that will stop the ACER logo, and you can see the Diagnostic screen, and get an idea of where in the process it is hanging....
Personally I bet it is hanging at the 'detect SATA' devices stage.
Open the side panel and remove and re-seat all SATA device cables, at BOTH the device and the motherboard.
If that fails, then the boot sector may need to be repaired on the hard drive. you will need a Windows disk for the OS that your client has though....although if it's an MBR disk you can use an XP or a win2k disk to repair. There are downloadable tools in iso format that you can burn and use to boot from the CD and then repair the boot-sector ...
PRESS F8 A FEW TIMES WHEN YOUR WINDOWS LOGO APPEARS GO TO SAVE MODE WITH NETWORK,GO TO YOUR C: RIGHT CLICK,PROPERTIES,TOOLS, CHECK FOR ERRORS,SCHEDULE ,OK OK REBOOT AND WAIT TILL IT'S FINISHED. OR WHEN YOU LOGO APPEARS SEE IF IT'S F? FOR RECOVERY AND CHOOSE REPAIR
Since Vista is a very old operating system you’re going to have quite a challenge finding tools that will solve your problem - In this particular case you may want to go to a local PC repair shop that would have the old operating system discs you’ll need to restore - From your description it is tough to figure out whether this is a software problem or if there is something physically beginning to fail on your machine but I can tell you from experience that with the machine of that era you have a hard drives that are at least 10 years old
A hard reset would be in order...just remember to remove your microSD memory card to avoid it possibly being erased. Here is what you do. Power down the phone. Press the volume down and the power button at the same time and hold them until you see the HTC logo. A white screen will come up with menu options. Press volume down until you get to factory reset. Press the power button the the phone will restore to factory settings.
