I got one for my D40x and this is what I did :
Go into the menu, select shooting mode. You'll find you can change it from single to continuous to timer to REMOTE.

Enjoy!

ML3 REMOTE USERS GUIDE needed in english

Nikon really doesn't have a user's guide for the ML-L3. It comes with a slip of paper telling you how to change the battery, and that's about it. The thing only has one button on it, after all.
The precise steps for using the remote vary from camera to camera. If your camera works with the ML-L3, there will be something in the camera's manual telling you how. It's usually called "Release Mode" or "Shooting Mode." Basically, you set the camera to a remote mode, then use the button on the remote instead of the shutter release button on the camera.

I recently purchase a wireless remote (ML-L3) for my Nikon D70s, but can't figure out how to program. Any ideas on where I can find out how to set this up. Or better yet, if you have the answer.

Set the camera's shooting mode to one of the two remote modes. The quick-response remote mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. The delayed remote mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the shutter.

To set the camera's shooting mode, press and hold the shooting mode button (marked with overlapping rectangles) and turn the main command dial. Full details are in the camera manual in the "Choosing a Shooting Mode" section (page 62 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from Nikon's web site at

How do I use ML-L3 on my D700 camera?

Unfortunately, you don't. The D700 works with the ML-3, not the ML-L3.
Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Just purchased a ML-L3 for a Nikon D50 can not

Set the camera's shooting mode to one of the two remote modes. Quick-response remote takes a picture as soon as you push the button on the remote. Delayed-response remote waits two seconds so you can hide the remote behind your back.

ML-L3 Remote control

Sadly, the ML-L3 does not work with the D700. You need to buy the much clumsier and much more expensive ML-3, which has a wireless receiver you hook to the camera and a wireless transmitter you use to fire the camera.

Lame, but true.
