Check the site for whatever brand it is. there should be a downloads page and check to see if your specific headset requires a driver. thats often the case. if not send me some info on it and ill check it out for ya through some resources

Try switching mic's with known good system. The small diameter cable going to headset and lav mic's are easily damaged. If the mic feeding the bodypack is good, fresh battery, mute disengaged and channels set properly then it's Shure factory service time.
Check the headset closely around the mic capsule and ear attachment for placing the mic on your ear. This is prone to problems from bending the mic to fit different people. You may find a break in the metal under clear rubber material. Also the cable itself could have a problem. Countryman sells the cable and it unplugs rather easily. There is a junction in the cable that is actually a plug. You can pull it apart there. Be careful as the mic is very expensive. Also countryman provides excellent technical support. Good luck.
For Vista 32 bit. Go to the driver manager. De-instal/delete the driver in the Sound, Video and Game section. In my case it was RealTek High Def Audio ver 220.127.116.1171. (Select Delete the driver files.) Reboot. Vista will reinstall a driver. In my case it was Microsoft High Def audio ver 6.0.6000.16386. I had the mic plugged in when I rebooted to load the new driver. The Cyber Acoustics ML-1060 now works fine. Hope this helps.
In Vista, right click on the speaker icon in your system tray (usually located at the bottom right of the screen) and select "Recording Devices". Be sure that your microphone is enabled in this list. In Skype and MSN, find the audio hardware setup, and make sure to select your mic-in port into which the mic is plugged.
