Question about LG Televison & Video

2 Answers

I've just bought an Lg DV 390H DVD player. Once installed with component video and audio direct into the TV and turned on it comes up initially with HELLO and then it simply goes to SEt. The instuctions say that when you turn it on for the first time you must select a language to use the unit by using the up down and <> keys. The remote appears to be working but the up down and <> keys have no effect. The only key that has any effect is the off key.

Hi,

Since the unit is new, your options are:

  • unplug from the mains for more than 15 minutes to reset and revert to factory default:
  • hard reset - on most LG units, there is a pinhole above the DVInput. With a pin, paperclip or blunt end of the needle, press on the recessed/hidden switch;
  • return the unit to point of purchase for replacement.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

There is no sound on my Sony SLV-D350P DVD Player / VCR Combo. The only section that works great is the VCR, but the DVD player sound just went out for some reason. I've changed the RCA cables, and...

Hi, As long as you have the picture it means that DVD's Laser Eye is Ok.. Pls Check your connections to make sure the audio and video cables of both VCR and DVD are properly hooked up to the television. Color coded cables should be matched with the jacks of equal color. Yellow corresponds to video while red and white are both audio.

Ensure the DVD is in standby mode if you are not getting picture from the VCR. The DVD cannot be running at the same time as the VCR is playing when you want to see the VCR picture.

Connections with combo units are often inconvenient, forcing you to use separate video hookups for each section (DVD, VCR), a problem for older TVs. This player has it figured out: a single RF or composite-video connection to a television will display either the DVD or the VCR signal, depending on which format you're viewing. If you want to view DVDs in S-video or in component-video (either interlaced or progressive-scan), you will need to use two inputs. though: any component- or S-video-equipped TV will offer sufficient inputs for both of the SLV-D350P's formats.
It's a different arrangement for audio: you can listen through a single set of stereo analog-audio cables for each component or--if you want to enjoy DVDs in discrete 5.1-channel surround sound--you can send the DVD's audio to a compatible audio/video receiver and a multichannel speaker system through a digital-audio interconnect (either optical or coaxial,). The unit also comes with an RF cable that will transmit DVD/VHS audio and video to your TV.
In conclusion, for a best tech solution I prpose you to connect DVD audio directly to your Stereo and listen as separate audio source.while Video goes to TV as usual. Hope this helps! if you need more help pls contact me..Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up for me to continue for Helping out the Community :)

How do I connect my lg drt389h dvd recorder to my ferguson fl26wx1 tv. I can play dvd's but i'm unable to record anything from my sky box.

Hi, When you bought your DVD player it comes with 1 type of cable. RCA type cable 2 audio and 1 video. Yellow for video and red and black for audeo. Your TV should have RCA plugs on back and match them up with DVD player. Most DVD player now come with optical out put, TV must have input to complete. If you have that you can get better sound from them. Good luck

What cables go from my 55 inch hitachi tv to connect on the back of the dvd player . I have two monster cables red and blue together and three cables red blue and green together.

I have never herd of a red and blue combo but, The three, red, blue, and green are "component" cables. Hopefully your DVD player has a red, blue, adn green component out, not to be confused with red composite out. Composite cables are yellow, red and white, and, your tv has componenet in. The component cable will give you the best video quality. When installing make sure they are inserted all the way but twisting and wiggling or you will have a bluish, grenish, etc. picture. The composite cables give you the video only, so you will have to provide the audio. Audio can be achived using composite red and white or digital optical. If you second monster cable is red and white you can probably use those To go from "audio" red and white out on DVD to audio in red and white on tv. You must use the same audio input that corresponds to you video input.

At the back of my Pioneer DV-414 DVD Player there are 3 sockets namely (component video out) which are Y (Green), Cb (Blue) and Cr (Red). Can I connect these to my TV which has sockets Red, White and...

You are describing what are called composite video outputs. Unless your TV has similar green, blue and red input sockets, you should ignore them altogether.Your Pioneer DV-414 has several different ways to link to other pieces of equipment. Depending on the sophistication of your audio/video gear you can have a higher quality video image using the S-video outlets which look something like the PS2 sockets on older computer keyboards and mice. If you don't see this socket on the back of your TV, and you don't see the composite RGB sockets either, then you will have to use the standard red & white outlet for left/right audio and the yellow outlet for video.

Hope this helps -)

Make sure none of the Digital or Component Input Assignments are programmed, if you're not using them. Set them to "----". This may help. Some of the Component input assignments may over-ride your other input assignments (perhaps even the HDMI input assignments).

Yamaha dv-s5650

I have a Yamaha DV-S5550 and recently did the same thing. Our players may have the same menu system. Give this a try. Turn the power to the dvd player on. Using the remote, follow this key sequence exactly. Press the onscreen button. Press the down directional key once. Press the right directional key once. Press the down directional key six times. Press the right directional key once. Press the down directional key once. Press the left directional key once. Press the onscreen button. Your player should now be set to NTSC output. Good luck!

Sony DVP-NS315 cant play only Video Disc

If you are using just a "yellow" ended cable for the video, maybe your custom settings are set to use "component"? I have been using this same dvd player for a while with the component video out and it works fine. I hope this helps.
