Connect the hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter then plug the USB adapter with the hard drive into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and files and backup or copy them to the computer.
this device is plug and play does not need any type of configuration basically you plug the device and the server (PC) would usually recognize it as the "A" unit
To transfer files from an old computer you can use USB or flash drives, copy the files from your Old Computer to Flash drive, after copying---attach the flash drive to your new computer then copy the files and save it. This is the easiest way to transfer files.
Other way of transferring;
-You can also transfer files by Burning your files into a CD/DVD and copy it to your new computer. -Get your hard disk from the old computer and attached it to your new computer -Or connect/network your two computers.
I recommend USB or Flash drives, the simplest and easy way.
Plug in your usb wait for windows to recognize the drive then access you usb drive. once its open go to your music files and select the files you want to copy press the right mouse button then select copy. then click on your usb drive's window then press right click again on your mouse and select paste.
Boot up your Toshiba laptop
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link :- http://www.ibm.com/products/finder/us/finders?pg=ddfinder&cm_re=other-_-suprcn-_-download
There may be one or more driver files for each device, depending upon what device is installed on your IBM, download them all because only one will work with your device but you won't know which one until you install it and it works.
Then copy the drivers from the Toshiba to a USB memory stick, then remove the memory stick and boot up the IBM R52 and insert the USB memory stick into the R52's USB port. Click on the USB memory device and double click on each of the device drivers. Each driver file will then expand and copy the driver files onto the C drive under a folder called Drivers. Open this folder to view the various drivers and run the Setup file for each driver.
You can buy an adaptor that will connect your hard drive to a pc.

Most drivers now only comes on CD. Without a wcd-Rom, you would have to split the drivers files into multiple floppy drive then rejoin it on the laptop.
