Question about Samsung Digimax A503 Digital Camera
The 503 takes pics fine, movies too, but recently it became invisible to my computer. Most tellingly, when it's plugged in now, the little red LED doesn't blink until the computer fully sees it & loads it up.
Doesn't work on my Mac Powerbook G4 Tiger or on Vista or on either of 2 USB-to-camera plug cables, both of which had worked just fine to connect the camera up before.
I'm hoping that there's some kind of a semi-hidden "RESET" button I can click in with a toothpick or something, but don't see one.
Anyone have any ideas out there?
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Take out all all software that you have installed and drivers . See if Vista will see it on its own. Strictly speaking cameras being USB devices do not need drivers or any other software. Just let Windows[Even Vista] do the work. Though having said that Vista is in big trouble with stuff that do need drivers.

First remove the memory card and batteries, then put fresh batteries back in and try it.
If that doesn't work, push and hold the 'power' button and the 'play' button at the same time for a few seconds.
