SOURCE: I bought an LG external

install an LG burner on a MAC
if the burner shows as connected or mounted on your screen you just have to install or use your burning utility i.e. nero, sonic, or whatever you have installed on your mac.
when you open the program and have your files already processed and ready to burn, it will ask you what unit you want to use for the task, open the menu and select your burner, click next or continue, the encoding will start, when it finishes the encoding the burner will start.
if you are using a USB connection it should work with your software

Testimonial: "Thanks! It works! I bought Toast Titanium and it recognizes the drive fine. Of course it does not work with protected videos - Thanks again! Bruce."

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Lower Filters

Lower Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

I wanna play a Blu-ray disc on my Mac, is that possible?

It will play. The trick is getting a blue ray player that's compatible. I use this one.

Samsung 6X Slim Blu-ray Writer USB External Drive, SE-506BB/TSWD (White)

Look on Amazon

Works great. Then I use VLC player to watch them. If you want to rip them use Make MKV
