the monitor may be losing the back lite. take a flash light or bright light and shine it at the screen after it goes black. can you see a faint picture? if so the back lite has failed. usually the cost of replacement exceeds the cost of a new monitor but there are a couple of web sites that detail the replacement of the "ccfl" cold cathode flouresecent light.
Hi there... First check your AC Adapter, see if it still lite green. If it not then you need a new AC Adapter. If AC Adapter still lite green, then your back light inverter are busted. The problem on your monitor is a bad power supply. We you can solder you should be able to repair it. If you check our site at : www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have a monitor repair section with dis-assembly guides and repair procedures. I will post a Hanns-g guide tonight. This will show how to open and repair the monitor. We also have a repair parts kit available.
