Depending on the model this can be easy or hard as heck. Check around the face panel of the stereo, sometimes there are two holes either side of the unit, if this is the case, look for 4 screwdrivers or pins which will fit into those holes, when all four pins are in place gently push them to the outside of the unit and pull towards you. The unit should slide out. If there are no such holes I would visit a local car audio shop to ask advice for your particular unit.
Sometimes there is a bolt at the rear of the unit which is used to hold it in place as well as the pins.
This can be very fiddly to get to but will be necessary in order to remove the stereo.
