Question about LG RH177 DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder
At first it couldn't read a Wallace and Gromit DVD disc (Samsung DVD player had no problem). Then, after burning a DVD+R (transfer of a recorded TV program from the harddisk), it couldn't read any dics at all - even the previously burnt ones - always with the message "No Disc". Same, even after cleaning the lens. The machine had been wonderful till last week when the problem surfaced.
Well, to solve the problem quick, I actually called in the service guy. Over here, LG comes to the door, but at an extra $40 bucks excluding parts. What I realise is that the drive is very easy to install, so could have just bought the part and installed myself, saving the $40.
With a DVD drive, it is hard to pinpoint the problem. And it being so cheap (old tech/over supply), most service centres would just replace the whole thing.
