Dropped digital cameras are usually dead digital cameras. No matter how careful you are sand and dust can get inside and raise havoc with the internals.

Rebel 350d - i press button 1/2 way and it auto focuses but wont take pic when presses the rest of the way. every once and a while it will take a pic.any thoughts?

it won't take the picture until the focus is not confirmed (big dot lights up in the lower right side of the viewfinder) even though the button is pressed all the way down.
tamron lenses are notorious for slow (noisy) auto focus, so you have to be patient when focusing and half press repeatedly several times before it locks down, confirmes the focus and takes the picture.

Fe-310, only used a few times, kept protected, one

Short answer - yes.
Manufacturers have become very good at making products that are reliable for exactly 1 year.
Usually it's small components that have a deffinate shelf life.
I would first check that you are using the correct battery for it. Even if it looks like it takes standard AA's - they often will only work for original spec rechargable blocks.
If this does not solve it - write a letter to Olympus saying how dissapointed you are with their product.
They may offer you a good deal on a repair hopefully.
Unfortunately Sony and HP are even worse - HP and lexmark printers now stop working after a period of time - telling you to buy more ink - even though you still have plenty.

Lens wont come out all way and cant take pics

Your lens is gone now, sell it on ebay as is, and buy another camera like yours for $20-30. Repairing such camera may involve just dust cleaning like very thin sand etc. or more work; anyway if you can find a guy who will do it for $10 then have it done. If not sell it on ebay for 10-20 and buy another one for 30. Keep the accessories!

Dropped my exlilim ex-s880 in the sand and can view pictures only

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Sand

use a vacume to **** up most of the grit. DO NOT USE COMPRESED AIR. if the lens is making crunchy noises. basically all the internal gears are done. sony wont touch cams that have been droped in water or sand. try the vacume thouh it has worked before.

How do I clean the interior of the lenz for Powershot A640

Its a big job, If your petty handy, You have to start from the back of the camera, Remove rear cover,Then front cover, Next lcd Display unit, Hopefully your haven\'t put the battery\'s in the camera for a while because the flash has high voltage in it, if you have, You must discharge first, them take circuit board out,Then lens assy, Now the fun part, You have to take the lens apart from the back also, Like I said its a big job, Better when you get this far into the camera you just replace the lens, with a used one form a diff camera (same model )

Camera wont turn on/off

I went to another problem, knowing my camera was stepped on, I messed around with moving the lens part around, barley moving it, and then I tried holding the on/off button and the button to take the pics with, and then put in new batteries and it turned on. I would suggest doing that.
