I have a Maytag Dependable Care Quiet Plus washer. Model # LAT8606AAE. On "regular" cycle, the machine will stop at several phases of the wash. Sometimes I can push in the control knob, pull it out, then it works. Other times I have to push it in, turn to the next "click" on the knob, then pull the knob out before it will proceed. I have checked the door closed switch and fuse. They are functioning correctly.
Thanks.

You will need to replace the timer on your unit. Here is the part to order for the model you listed. To access the timer, remove the back cover on the console and be sure to unplug the unit!
It is possible that you need a new timer which is a part number: 22003362and is usually about $75-$100 but it is also possible that one of the components of the knob is not functioning properly. The best bet is to take the knob apart (make sure the arrow points to a wash cycle first) and then pull up on the time timer shaft itself. If the washer starts then you know its one of the components of the knob that when bad. If it doesn't then you know you need a timer.
there is probably some sort of debris in the water pump a button or other items blocking the flow of water please make Shure to try and turn the water pump by hand in order to free any obstruction eric
Maytag makes very dependable machines. They are fairly easy to repair and parts are easy to find. If I was in the market for a used washer, a Maytag would be my first choice. Since its used there is no guaranty that the thing isn't going to need repairs. If you can see it run through a cycle before buying it would be a plus. My first washer was a mid seventies model Maytag. I had two minor repairs twice in 15 years and its been working ever since at my buddy's. I hope this helps you.
The belt turn the pulley, but the height of the pulley is worn out so it didn't push up a mechanism to release the brake and to engage with the clutch to make the spin.
You have to takethe shaft out to study how it works then it makes sense on what I 'm talking.
The pulley cost only $11 but it is a major laboring exercise. It is a good learning to have hands on to this problem. Good luck on replacing the pulley.
There's a little screen at one end of the inlet hose that will clog up; remove that and clean it. Don't forget to reinstall it. You can buy a replacement at the hardware store; take the old one along, there are a lot of different sizes.
Doe,s the water come on when it stops, it may have something to do with the balance of the washing load, if the water comes on it,s trying to rebalance it self.
