My MFC9460 has been working fine for a year, but yesterday the ADF stopped functioning. Now when you insert a couple of sheets in the ADF, it emit a high pitch whine and does not feed the sheets through. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.

Re: brother mfc-8460 ADF no longer working
Go to where you bought it, see if the same model is available, buy it, switch boxes and return for your refund. I've learned with brother printers once they go bad, dont monkey with them, replace them.

Whats the problem? Lots of printer trays are like that. The printer, when powered on, will lift that. Look on the side of the tray there is a mechanism that makes contact with a gear inside the printer.
