The link to "the following website" is to directron.com. Nothing there about my problem, firmware or otherwise.

then could you just post the actual link?

because when i scroll over the "browser" hyperlink it is a page that sells quickbooks etc...

    any help would be appreciated

Until you mentioned it, I never took a good hard look and realized how much those instructions ****. Go to the following website instead, and download the firmware - then try and follow the lousy instructions on the other link:

I just copied and pasted it into my browser - it works for me

That scrolling bar is how Fixya makes it's money - I found a way to disable it once, but it morphed on me...lol

I just now tried to turn the link into a hyperlink. It failed. Fixya has apparently cut down on my ability to do so - largely as a preventive measure against fake links.

All you have to do is copy and past the link into your browser windows. Copy and paste. It's not that hard.

Have you tried it in another computer?

Does it show up in "My Computer"?

If you can get it recognized by another computer, you can apply this firmware update:

Wont install

The CD is not guaranteed to work with Vista, however there are some links on RCA's website to attempt to download updated programs that where present on the CD. Here is the link: http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/faq.aspx?product=27

I am running Vista Enterprise and my Pearl works fine just by using the drag and drop features of Windows Explorer to place the .mp3 or .wma files on the device.

Help getting my cd to install

The product was manufactured before Vista came out, so the labelling was correct at the time it was manufactured.

RCA does have a solution:
