Hi Kwitzell,

Here are a couple this to consider:

1) Do you have other printers installed to the pc? If so, my quess is you are installing the canon printer and it tells you it is not connected. If this is the case, make sure the canon printer is set as the default printer.

2) After installing the drivers for the new printer, the next step is to add a printer.

3) verify the print spool service is running. If not, start it. If so, stop the the process, and restart it.

4) If still no success: follow these steps;
* delete printer
* remove drivers
* disconnect the printer from the usb/parrelal cable.
* power down the printer
* reconnect the usb/parrelal cable and power on the printer
* power on the computer and allow the pnp detect the new hardware and follow the instructions to install the new printer.

Hope that helps and good luck

Hi im from sweden, the thing is how do i install may cannon mp610 when i lost my disc to it

Hi! My name is Mace and I'm here to help
The software inside the cd installer of your printer can be downloaded free from this site. http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/1262/
Download the driver software (next to the operating system you are using) to your PC. After that, run this software to install. Connect your printer to your PC and it will work.
I hope this information will help you. Thank you for using Fixya.

Our Cannon Pixma 610 says that paper is jammed. We have looked throughout the printer, underneath, and read through the instructions. We can't find any paper jammed nor any pieces of paper lying in there....

open the printer and clean it with thinner or petroll after that un install the software and then install again.
when you open the printer and cleaned take all the cables off from the printer board and plug in again while it is dry

Can I save a scanned image using MP610?

Yes. PIXMA MP610 is a multifunction printer that has printer/copier/scanner capabilities.
Just install the software and drivers supplied with your printer (or download them from CANON ) and connect the printer do the computer.
The printer sofware will guide you through the operation of scanning an image and saving it to a a file in the computer.
Below is a link to CANON product support pages, from where you can dowload the software and drivers for the printer and also guides and manuals.

Will a USB2.0 port installed after purchase support Pixma MP610?

Somebody might have been confused or perhaps there is was a different issue as well. USB 2.0 is backward compatible. The printer should work on either, but with decreased performance on the USB 1.0. The USB 2.0 PCI card is a true USB upgrade no matter your original config. Make sure your PC otherwise meets the min requirements for the printer.
