I am having the same problem with my laptop. I am able to connect to my WEP encrypted secure network at home, but when I am on my college campus, I cannot get onto the WPA2 secured network. I was able to install the SecureW2 client, but when I select the secured wireless connection from my connection manager, I get the 'wireless network out of range' message. I am able to connect to the unsecured network provided by my campus no problem, but not the secured connection. -I do not Have the Toshiba wireless adapter, but instead an Intel, possible indicates a software problem instead of hardware?

what's the error? if your getting the error Connected with limited connectivity try checking your network key in the router and the wireless settings on your computer if they are correct or just removed your security key, if your getting an error no networks in range or no network available check the router settings if the wireless signal is turned on the router, if you get an error windows could not connect to wireless networks try uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless card driver on your system and set the the router to defaults then try connecting with out changing any settings in the router to see if it will connect, if it connects, then there was/were settings in the router and possibly in the wireless settings in your laptop that was causing the computer and the router to have communication issues, also check for possible applications such as network magic that could cause a wireless signal to degrade or not allow connections at all if such application exists on your system uninstall it Microsoft or windows has its own wireless configuration software built into handle wireless connections in XP it is wireless zero configuration in vista and in win7 WLAN which can be set in network and sharing connection in the control panel window.....

Solved Problem on Limited Or No Connectivity error message

Solving Limited Or No Connectivity error message

On setting up or make network connections on a Windows computer, you may encounter a Limited Or No Connectivity error message similar to the following:

Limited or no connectivity: The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might be unable to access the Internet or some network resources.

This message can result from any of several different technical glitches or configuration problems. Follow these steps to resolve Limited Or No Connectivity errors in Windows.

Here's How:
Determine whether your network access is functioning properly (that you can reach local network resources and the Internet). If you are using a broadband Internet and Windows XP Service Pack 2, this message is often a false error report. If your network access is non-functional. continue to the following steps.

If your computer connects to the network through a broadband router , resetting (powering off and on) the router may resolve the issue. If not using a broadband router, or if resetting your router only temporarily resolves the issue and the error message re-appears later, continue to the following steps.

If connecting to your network using Wi-Fi and using wireless security, your WEP or other security key may not be set properly. Check the wireless security configuration on your computer's network adapter and update if it necessary.

If connecting to your network using an Ethernet cable, your cable may have failed. Temporarily replace your network cable with a new one to determine whether this resolves the issue.

If using a broadband router and DHCP on your network, check your computer's IP address to verify it is valid and not a private address that starts with 169.254. An invalid address of the form 169.254.x.x signifies your computer's inability to obtain a usable IP address from your router.

To resolve DHCP configuration problems, proceed to the following steps.

Reboot your computer, router (if present) and broadband modem together, then re-test your connection.

If your connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility on your computer.

If your connection remains non-functional, update your router settings to change from dynamic to static IP address configuration, and set an IP address on the computer appropriately.

If your connection remains non-functional, unplug your router and connect the computer directly to your broadband modem. If this configuration is functional, contact the manufacturer of your router for additional support.

If your computer is connecting to your network directly through a broadband modem, or if your Internet access remains non-functional after following the instructions above, contact your Internet provider for support.

Laptop cannot aquire network address from wireless router

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

Says i am connected but when i open firefox it says that i have no network connection... the wireless icon also says it is acquiring ip address

if the message aquiring ip address comes in computer then it says that the wireless router is not giving an ip address to your computer.... check if any static ip address is assigned to your wireless connection...if so change to "obtain ip address automatically".... right click on wireless network name> goto properties > authentication tab> uncheck "enable IEE athentication"
now try to connect again, still not restart the computer once...... this will resolve the issue.... still if it is not connected then check for the security settings in the router... if your computer is XP/MAC, it may not recognize WPA security type.... change it to WEP type and try to connect again....

Netgear router and microsoft adapter compatablity

You might try looking for updated drivers for your Microsoft adapter. Older wireless adapters often do not support newer wireless security methods like WPA/WPA2, so if your router is set to use something besides WEP, that may be the answer.

If you're not using wireless security and you still see intermittent connection issues, I'd consider using a different wireless adapter. In my experience, Microsoft wireless adapters do not have the range other brands do.

when you say it has a router in it, you mean a receiver and you are trying to connect to the other pc without the means of an external router (network).

You need to set up the connection using windows wireless network wizard as you seem to be trying to connect 'adhoc', which is one pc to another.

It's too long a process to type here so use the wizard

also you need to check that both are on the same workgroup setting, this is found by right clicking my computer and then properties and computer name, as if they are'nt they cannot see each other.

Wireless network card in PC loses connection

The best reccomendation I might make is to stop using the manufacturer's proprietary management software. Use Windows' own built in wireless management. You can select this by selecting the network adapter in the 'network connections' control panel and checking the box that says 'let windows manage this device' That should fix the problem. Also, try getting the most recent updates for both windows and the network adapter.
