Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
Just to be clear, you can still see what's on the screen, but it doesn't light up? If I understand this correctly, and this is the case, then either the screen inverter has gone out and will need replaced, or the screen back light has gone out in which you will have to replace the screen. Unfortunately, the screen is considered a sealed unit and the back light cannot be changed out. You can test the inverter with an ohm meter. Get a reading at the motherboard end, it will be a low voltage, then check the screen end. I'm not exactly sure what the voltage rating is, but it should be real close to the voltage of the wall socket you're using, and it will be considerably higher than the motherboard end. If the voltage is the same or very close at each end, ten the inverter is bad. *IMPORTANT* Be very careful when handling an inverter, they can give you quite a shock.
