Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One Scan/Copy/Fax and Photo Printer

2 Answers

Refilled Cartridge I have installed a refilled Lexmark cartridge and software refuses to accept it. Lexmark X4550 keeps saying "alignment problem." I suspect this is part of manufacturer's software designed to prevent use of generic or refilled cartridges and force users to buy overpriced replacement Lexmark cartridges. I had been very pleased with this all-in-one but now I am becoming enraged by the manufacturer's use of extortion and considering dumping this machine. Any idea how to get the Lexmark to accept refills or generics? i tryeed to refill my ink cartridge for x7170 lexmark but will not reconize that they are full is there a chip resetter for this ink cartridge #32 &33 my email bloomy303@aol.com

To get your printer to recognize the new cartridge; go to start - printer and faxes -right click on printer - preferences (printing preferences) -settings -load factory settings. Print test page Ctrl+P

Just read up on the site, and I am sorry but they seem to say that you have to buy a new cartridge. There is a chip on the cartridge that refuses to accept refilled cartridges

My lexmark X5410 will not accept the black and colored refilled ink cartridges from walgreens. It keeps reporting that the right cartridge is missing.

If you have refilled the cartridges 28 and 29, it's pretty normal that your printer won't print. Those cartridges are not for refill (they can be refilled, but won't work once the printer says they are empty). If you have refilled a 28A and 29A and it doesn't recognize the one of the cartridges, try removing them and clean the electric contacts with a dry cloth. Put them back in. If that doesn't help, I suggest you buy a new cartridge.

Lexmark printer always want a new cartridge

What you need is to reset the ink level:
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application.
2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own.
Hope this help.

Lexmark X2600 refill problem

many printer manufacturers put something (a chip?) in the circuit of the cartridge to prevent refilled ones from being recognized by the printer....when the "factory" cartridge is empty, the only way for the printer to see a full cartridge again is by using a "new" factory one, ...i guess it's the big name brands way of making sure you buy "their" ink and not use refulls.

And install the carts thru the HP software..this might fix..or the carts are defective
