Hi, if the NIC card is not working please uninstall LAN Drivers and re-install it. If still it's not working, please plug different Ethernet cable to the NIC Card and check if it is working and make sure that NIC card's RJ45 port is glowing or not. Finally, if it is not working you can purchase a new NIC Card and add it as a addon card to the CPU. However, the NIC Card is not plug and play (except for few NIC Cards in which windows has built in drivers), the Driver Disk will be provided for free with the purchase of a new NIC Card.

Please let me know the result of the above mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Can you see the device listed in "device manager"? Does it indicate an problems?

You could try reseating the card if its not built into the mother board by powering down the machine and unplugging it. Open the case and locate the card that the network cable plugs into and just remove it and replace it into the slot ensuring it is firmly seated and then plug the machine back in and power on.

You try reinstalling the drivers by right clicking on the device and choosing uninstall, then reboot the machine, let the driver reinstall after the reboot and see if thats made any diference.

You could also try checking the card/motherboard drivers are uptodate.

Thanks

Hello Sqis,

You can purchase any nic card which is compatible with WinXP or 7.

Insert the card in PC Slot of the motherboard.

Install the driver for the card and it will work.

Inside my emachine desktop pc where do I find the network interface card? I need to replace it since an electrical storm destroyed it.

The NIC (network interface card) resembles a telephone jack only larger. It's where your ethernet cable goes. On some E-machines, the NIC is onboard meaning it's permanently attached to the motherboard. If this is the case, it's still possible to install a different NIC in 1 of the blank PCI slots. Remember to Disable the existing NIC in your device manager to avoid any possible conflict.

Nic card not working, no green light on back. Is there a plug and play nic card that I can purchase to replace?

There are may plug and play network cards around. It will depend on your version of windows as well though.

Have a look at cards in what ever store you usually use at the price range you like and I am sure you will find something.

Thanks

How do I replace the nic card in my computer?

a Nic card is a simple device (Network Interface Card) presumably a desktop machine I suppose. Just go to a local ABC warehouse or Walmart and by a new Network Adapter "NIC" PCI card and install with the drivers provided. Should be around $12-25.00 depending on the model... this should work:

NIC card not detecting in dx2280 in RHEL / Linux

if it is not or if you don't know, then just go into setting when you first boot up your computer by either pressing F2 or the Delete button.then go into your bios and find where the plug and play is and enable it then save and exit. reboot and then see if it detects the nic card. if that doesn't work then you would need a pro to install for you. let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions.

Dell 4700 Computer Integrated NIC Problem

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.

Installing internal board dell d600 nic hardaware

The wireless card bay is located under a panel on the bottom of the machine. It will have two leads (wires) the plug onto it. There will be only one place that the card fits and you will know it when you see the two wires. After installing the card, then you will need the drivers in order for it to work properly, you can find the drivers at driverguide.com using the make and model of the card. Also, the two leads will only work properly if connected correctly. The card will work if connected wrong but the reception will be lousy. If you find that you're not getting a good signal after everything is installed and working, try switching the wires.

2 ethernet cards can't work together

If in your network you are connecting computers directly to a PC thru multiple nics and not a router or hub leaving one as server and the others as clients and that server is NT 4,0

NT 4,0 can not auto configure the cat5 cable and would need at least 1 cable to be a cross-over and not a patch.
