How can i reset Encore enRTR-104 router to default factory settings? When i push the reset button after few seconds begin the light nr. 4 faster to blink. When i release the button - the reset is done in 2-3 seconds. When i hold the reset button 30 seconds - the reset is done automaticly. The problem is - the router has still the old configuration. When i hold the reset button during plug in the power cord the router looks like it is frozen... permanently lights( wan and 4) and there is no activity even after i relase the reset button . So any advise like - hold the reset button 30 seconds, unplug, replug(still hold the reset button) seems not to work by me. Do you have any suggestions how to reset the router to default factory settings diretcly form manufacturer? Because, in the user guide is only written - you should push the reset button, but not how long and what should happend (which light should be on and off, etc...) Thank you

I found these instructions for resetting the router to the defualt settings:
Use the "Backup Settings" tool to save the Broadband Router's current configuration to a file named "config.bin" on your PC. You can then use the "Restore Settings" tool to restore the saved configuration of the Broadband Router that you set before. Alternately, you can use the "Restore to Factory Defaults" tool to force the Broadband Router to perform reset and restore the original factory settings.
􀁺 Restore Factory Default
To restore the factory default settings of the Broadband Router, click on the "Restore" button.
􀁺 Backup Settings
Press the "Backup Settings" button to save the current setting in a filed "config.bin" or given filename.
􀁺 Restore Settings
To restore the backup file to the Broadband Router, enter the path and filename on the restore settings.

You can find the manual here:

Thank you for your advise, I've read the manual. The problem is, how to reset the router to factory default settings by use the reset button. I've tried it several times but without success. In the user guide is any described step by step manual how should the router behave during the "hard" reset. There is also no kind of advise that there are two kinds of reset. A soft one and hard one.

If your doing what the manual states, and its still not changing, then I would suggest reapplying the firmware, or something is bad on the router.

To reset, you SHOULD have to hold the reset button for 90 seconds. After 30, unplug the power cable, and at 60 seconds, plug it back in (DO NOT RELEASE THE RESET BUTTON DURING THIS PROCESS). After the full 90 seconds, release the reset button.

It's also good practice to wait an addition 15 seconds, and then power cycle the router once more to ensure it loads it's configuration properly.

    Thank you for your advice.

I hold the reset button in total more than 300 seconds. But the settings are unchanged.

    1. step - I plugged the power cord PWR lights permanently and STATUS blinked
    2. step - After the router is properly started i pushed the reset button and waited 30 seconds. The STATUS blinked faster.. after aproximately 20 seconds STATUS blinked much faster and then all lights are on for approximately 1-2 second. After that PWR and STATUS lights permanently.
    3. step - I unplugged the power cord.. i still held the reset button 30 - 60 and 90 seconds.
    4. step - I repluged the power cord and waited 60 - 90 seconds PWR and STATUS lights permanently.
And now... when i just released the reset button - the router was not able to give me an ip adress - reset was impossible ... i had to unplug the power cord
    5. step - I plugged the power cord but there was the old settings

    Have i done something wrong?

What is the source of your advice, because, I can't find this kind of advice in user manual.?

Need password to my netgear router n 300

what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

How do I reset my Linksys WRT400N Router to factory defaults

Reset There are two ways to reset the Router's

factory defaults. Either press and hold the Reset

Button for approximately five seconds, or restore

the defaults from Administration > Factory
Defaults in the Router's web-based utility.

There should be a small hole with a red circle around it on the back of the router next to the power plug hole. Use a pin or straighten paper clip to push the tiny button.

Forgot UN and PW

most modern routers have a small recessed button on the back of the router. You'll need a paper clip to push that button in and hold it for about 10 seconds.

Factory settings

Step 1 Power the unit off by unplugging its power adapter. Step 2 Insert a paper clip in to the reset pinhole. Press and hold the reset button with light pressure. Step 3 Power the device back on by plugging it in. Continue to hold the reset button. Step 4 Watch the lights on the front of the router. The M1 & M2 should come on solid. When the M1 & M2 begin to blink slowly, release the reset button. The unit will reboot itself and should be at factory defaults. If the M1 light is not blinking about once per second, unplug the power on the router and plug it back in. If the M1 & M2 continue to blink rapidly, you held the reset button for too long. Power the device off and repeat the reset procedure. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. The default username for our routers is admin. The password is blank. If your router asks only for a password, use admin (lower-case).
