Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player

Creative Zen V Plus volume control unresponsive

My Creative Zen V Plus volume control is not working. I have the volume set to very low and now I can barely hear it when playing.

    i've checked the volume control and removed any settings. I have even reset the player to the default factory settings. The problem is that volume up/down button does not respond at all.

    Hey,
    i got the same problem, and i read on the internet that alot of people got it.... im going on holiday tomorrow, and now i dont have music... the only way to get sound is: System> Audio settings> Restrict Volume, u can go down and up with the control in the middle, but when you do this, u can't change songs in meanwhile..

Someone probably put a password in the volume control thingy
to change just go to settins and then where it says volume
if you cant go in it might be somone changed the password

Here is a quicker solution if you have already chosen Europe?

Well, thanks to my investigations I have found there is a solution. Pressing reset will not work and installing new f/w is a pain.

Instead, open your S9 system folder, and simply delete the "PARAM" file. Power off. Power up. (There is no need to change firmware at all).

You are back at the original screen. 1. Choose your language. 2. Next DO NOT CHOOSE THE EUROPE setting. 3. Third, choose your radio setting - any will do.

Volume too low on zen


Try going to System>Audio Settings>Restrict Volume on your ZEN. This is a password protected feature for parental controls i guess... If this doesn't work, get a hearing aid : )

well it shouldnt play the first song in the folder. it should automatically play the song where you left off. and when you are changing the EQ, make sure that you are pressing in the selector key. (the key at the bottom to the right of the volume control keys) as it may take a while to adjust to your volume settings

Frozen on radio station


on the side, near the power slider, there is a small hole. Gently stick the end of a paperclip in there and it will re-set the player.

Hi, I had the same problem with my Zen V Plus. I held the volume + button in and connected the Zen to the computer using the USB cable and the Zen came back to life ! Try it - it might just work like it did for me.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Zen V is dead
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
