  • ok, thanks for the full model number. it is just little micro switches that you have to change.
  • You will need to turn off the power to the machine first, possible turning off a breaker.
  • Then you take off the inner door panel to get to the door latch/switch assembly. It is not too hard but it would be helpful to have someone that is comfortable repairing such things.
  • remove the bottom kick-plate at the bottom of the machine.
  • behind it should be some springs with cables attached to them, unhook them to release the tension on the door ; so you can lay the door all the way down without it trying to lift up while you work on it.
  • now you can take the screws out that hold the inner plastic panel.
  • once this is off you should be able to see everything including the little switches.

Dishwasher wont cycle

Sounds like the timer needs replacing.
These are orderable from Sears Parts online.
I have changed two of them, and this is a difficult job.
You must dismantle the door.
I have not been able to get the automatic soap dispenser to function after I get the timer changed, so my wif e has to add the soap to the machine instead of the dispenser.
Be blessed.

Our LG is only a couple years old and was very quiet at first. It has started making a very loud groaning noise when the water is spraying. Is it a pump going out?

Hi

In Australia I have seen similar problems with some recent models of LG dishwashers. Not sure if the ones sold in the US are any different.
One common problem I have seen with LG wash pumps from dishwashers which were sold 2-4 years ago, is that the motor becomes noisy after some time. The replacement motors which I have ordered is a different one and therefore revised as the predesessor was not reliable. The replacement motor has a different mounting bracket as well.
They are fairly cheap, but to change them is very difficult. Best to get a repairer as the machine needs to be thoroughly dismantled to allow you to get to the wash pump.

Hi, I have a Bosch SMS 4012 dishwasher. It's about 20 years old but looks (inside anyway) as good as new. It's only the design that ages it really, it's been brilliant and I'm loathed to replace it but I...

Hello Pauline,

The handle and latch/lock are sold separately but both are still available direct from Bosch. This model was sold in the UK and Australia, but I'll assume for the moment you are in the UK and provide details for for ordering parts in the UK.

Plastic handle for Bosch SMS4012
Bosch part number: 056219
Price: £5.12
https://www.bosch-eshop.com/eshop/bosch/gb/prodls.htm?eshoptype=A&matnr=000000000000056219

Lock for Bosch SMS4012
Bosch part number: 056218
Price: £19.13
https://www.bosch-eshop.com/eshop/bosch/gb/prodls.htm?eshoptype=A&matnr=000000000000056218

Both parts are in stock and ready to ship. Bosch have a standard delivery charge of £5 per order.

You probably only need to order one of the above parts. You said it wont open/close, so you probably only need the lock unless the plastic handle is cracked/broken as well.

With regard to replacing it yourself, it's fiddly and requires some dis-assembly of the door and control panel but it can be done on a DIY basis if you're patient, practical and you know the difference between a pair of pliers and a screwdriver ;) (you'll need both)

It's not the most difficult job on the washer but it's not the easiest either so you may want to consider calling a professional. You could also order the parts yourself and pay someone to fit them as this usually saves a bit of money, but you should inform them beforehand that you will be doing so. Some engineers make extra profit on the parts and aren't keen on having the parts supplied!

Either way, the parts are still available so the dishwasher can be repaired. If you are not in the UK please let me know, but the part numbers should be the same wherever you are.

If you decide you want to try replacing it yourself, I can provide further guidance, but this washer was made before I started repairing dishwashers and I don't see many of these washers now. It's one of those repairs I could do if I had the machine in front of me but providing step by step instructions without being able to see it is a little more difficult - but not impossible! You will probably have to figure out one or two bits for yourself . . .

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you would like further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

How to change front panel

Most of the times the dishwasher door will have a frame system. With 2-3 screws on the left or right side of the door removed, one side of the frame can be removed and the panel on the front removed. If you have a dishwashre door that wraps around the sides, things become more difficult. There will be screws on the left and right and also on the bottom. Furthermore sometimes the wires/cables to the control panel have to be disconnected as well. Makle sure you keep the screws in a safe place as there will be 10+ of them. Once the door is unscrewed, you may also have to unhook the spring that keeps tension on the door. If you have a frame system and you want to just replace the color then you have an easy job ahead of you. (go to applianceart.com for panel options),but if its a "wrap around" door panel then it is much more difficult. I suggest, if you are tryign to change it to stainless, that you order the faux stainless material that goes over your existing panel. it may save you alot of time and headache.

Only one function works on my main panel

If the problem is that only one button (normal cycle) works when you press it and none of the others do, then you have most likely a bad keypad, but possibly a bad circuit board. It's difficult to say without knowing which model of dishwasher you have.

The repair is not really that difficult, but you should probably order both from someplace with a good return policy, then change the keypad first and see if that works. If it works, return the circuit board. If it doesn't work, put the new circuit board in.

Frigidaire diswasher dead

it happens all the time.
sometime is hours after the warranty. (that was calculated by the manufacture).
check local service center, you need a control panel replacement.
not that difficult to replace. just need the replacement infront of you to connect the right wires.

good luck

Dish water won't start

hi,

you shouldn't have to pull the washer out, the fuse that may be the problem should be located in the door with the control board. there should be some screws around the door to remove it. however, the fuse may need to be special ordered. also make sure the power is off to the unit before you work on it.
