Samsung HLS4666W TV Turns off at will

Hi - I have owned this TV now for 2 years. 6 months ago the lamp conked out and I replaced it. It worked fine for 2 months but now TV turns off without any prior warning. It happens 3 or 4 times at intermittant timings, 15 minutes, 2 minutes, etc. When I persist to keep turning it ON, it starts behaving and keeps on as long as I need to keep it on. I can't find this problem mentioned anywhere and therefore can't find any solution either. Does any one know what the problem is and its fix? Is anyone else having the same problem. Advise. Thanks

Thanks. Looks like it was a connection after all. I can't be sure but I took both rear panels and the lamp out, made sure all connectors are snapped into place. I did heat a click from one of them. I don't believe I ever touched connector that but it has worked fine since yesterday morning on 3 different attempts.

This sounds more like a connection problem that resolves itself as the set "heats up". One other thing to check is the lamp door. These sets have interlocks for the doors etc. that will cause the set to shutdown if not shut correctly. This could be part of the problem as well. Unless you can find a detailed pattern to the behavior, tracing this will be difficult. Look for loose cable connections or bad solder connections on the boards as well as any access doors that may not be closed or seated properly.

Keep us posted.

Make sure that there is no dust around the lamp. you may want to try and clean around the lamp with a blow dryer.

The DMD chip is failing. The little mirrors on it are sticking in the on position therefore always reflecting the white light from the lamp. The part number you will need is 4719-001981 and is available from the Samsung parts website. I have included a link to directly purchase the part from them. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

TV on/off

How long is your TV on before it turns off? Check the fans and make sure they are all working. The TV may be shutting off due to overheating if a fan quit working.

If you think the lamp is still good maybe try replacing the lamp ballast.

Turns on and off green LED flashes until TV turns back on.

this is a symptom of a bad lamp. for some reason it won't spit out a lamp error. shaking up the lamp will sometimes fix temporarily but you will find replacing to be the answer. if your tv has a fan error, you will get 4 red blinks.
