Question about HP Photosmart M415 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Downloading to computer

The last time I tried to download my pictures from my camera to my computer, the transfer page would come up and when it came to initializing, I received a message stating "Not Connected"
I checked all of my cable wires finding nothing wrong, so I uninstalled everything pertaining to the camera. I restarted my computer and reinstalled and get NOTHING When I go to My Computer, the only thing I have listed is my All in one HP Photosmart C4400 scanner, copier, printer. I go to Add & Remove it lists a HP Photosmart Cameras 4.5 On the Control Panel under Scanners and Cameras all that is listed is the scanner. Am I doing something wrong when I download? I use the disk that came with the camera The disk is titled HP Photosmart,M415 digital camera, HP Image Zone Software. bdotson@embarqmail.com

Go out to hp.com and click on support then updates and find your camera and download the latest updated software. I have several hp devices including one camera, and have had to download updates for all of them, The discs which come with equipment are made up before the release of the equipment, needless to say by the time you get it, the disc has long been updated.

I think you would be better off using a card reader and downloading to a folder that you create on your desktop. That way, you know exactly where they are.

I?ll be fine. All your original pictures are on the C drive. Unless you have changed the directory onto which you save when transferring: You can find the pictures under C-Drive, my pictures. The camera might need to be recharged. The camera doesn't charge from the computer while transferring pics. You will need to switch the camera off before the camera will start charging.

Possible solutions in order for downloading pictures to the computer issue:

Remember you need to turn the camera on when transferring.
Instead of using the Easy Share Programe

1: Go into my documents
2: Find the location of the camera and your pictures
3 Drag and drop from the camera to the computer

Try a different USB outlet
Try a different cable
Try a different computer.

Problems downloading photos from camera

Has this been happening all the time since you got the camera?

My guess is that If the camera starts up again after powering off, it probably isn't the battery.

Can you try downloading only half of the images at a time? I'm thinking it may go into sleep mode after awhile if you're downloading a lot of photos. What format are you using, jpg? RAW? raw are really big files. What's your megapizel size?

Why not use a separate memory card reader/writer instead, it's pretty affordable nowadays and you can drag and drop image files on the fly...

Sometimes the digital camera mass storage driver hangs while in usb access which stops multiple file transfers. You can try and reinstall it if you don't want to use an external memory card reader/writer...
