Question about JVC Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I have a JVC El Kameleon cd player/radio combo in my car. I know nothing about this as the previous owner (who I cannot contact) is the one who installed it. My main problem is that I cannot access the "tune" function. I can't even find the tune function, and it always ends up seeking for about 5 minutes before it finds a local station which I hate. I do not know of the specs or model number as I have no visible reading of that on the device whatsoever. Any assistance that can at all be given would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for the support, yes it is missing an antenna, the previous owner had an *episode* when he lost the car and smashed the windshield, stole the antenna, and broke off pieces off the door. Right now it has a makeshift metal wire antenna which I imagine is part of the problem source. However I am looking most into the fact that I cannot find the tune option (i.e. changing the station by .2 mHZ up or down). This should be available regardless of how the antenna is set up. I'll get it eventually, and thank you so much for the help you have offered. It was quite fast support; and I will be sure to come here again if I have another unsolvable problem.

(As a side note, I am aware of people that say "Ever heard of [search engine]? Rest assured I did search for over 5 hours before coming across fixya, I imagine I can find this particular El Kameleon/JVC's manual online somewhere.)

Depending on which kameleon it is there are different place's for the source button *turner*... and as far as the radio searching for 5 mins its cause the antenna is not hooked up right or all the way...

Have a 1996 Toyota Camery. Installed a KDG140 JVC stereo/CD player but the stereo won't work. CD player works great.

If "stereo won't work" refers to you not being able to get radio stations; try your antenna connection behind the radio. The vehicle may also have a power antenna connection(blue wire at the stereo).

Hi , i have bought a car with kenwood kdc-mp333 audio player. i get an error protect all the time i turn it on. could u tell me how to solve this problem

More then likely it has an anti-theft system built into the radio. They only thing you can do is try to contact the previous owner if that isnt possible look for a really small reset button.

On a jvc kd-g632 cd player which wire port is for a remote lead for fitting an amp

The turn on voltage that the amp needs comes from the radio wiring harness and it is the blue wire that is in between the red and the white wires on most JVC radios.

Hope this helps and a rating of "FixYa!" would be appreciated for this free information.

Let me know if you need any more help.
