Question about Kenmore 15762 Dishwasher

1 Answer

Press START and nothing happens

When you press start nothing happens, the drain function works and all other lights come on....is there a mechanism in the latch that would keep the start button from working? It sounds like it is closing properly but the latch sounds different when you open the dishwasher, sort of like it is stuck or something, any help would be appreciated...Thanks

Yes the door has a safety switch that will keep the machine from starting, this is most likely the problem.

The wires that you see in the picture come with the switches, it is actually a door switch repair kit. As far as any other parts (and these parts), I would suggest opening up the door and inspect everything before buying any parts; you may just find something misaligned or popped out of place. If you have a multi-meter or a continuity tester then you can test the switches while you're in there. Don’t forget to turn off the power before disassembling it.

Dishwasher wont start models 6651345

Really need more information... Do the selector buttons and lights work? If you press Cancel, will it drain (i.e. does the drain pump run)? If lights work, but nothing else does, then it is probably a bad door latch, or at least a bad door switch inside the latch.

My Prima LPR660 will not start even though all the lights are on

It is likely the door latch microswitch is faulty and preventing the controller from confirming if the door is shut or not. Or it is possible the door latch mechanism is preventing door from shutting. It looks like this.

If your dishwasher won't start the problem could be the door latch or door latch switches. The door latch assembly is used to hold the door closed during the cycle to prevent water from leaking and it also incorporates the door latch switches that supply power to the dishwasher controls. If the door cannot close properly to activate the door latch switches or if the switches are defective then the dishwasher controls will not receive power and the dishwasher will not start. Inspect the latch assembly including the switches.
The door latch assembly is typically located at the top of the door, behind the inner door panel. To gain access you will have to remove the screws that secure the inner door panel and then separate the inner and outer door. The door latch assembly will normally have two switches that are wired in series as a safety feature. Verify that the door catch will activate the switches by manually inserting the catch into the latch assembly. If both switches are being mechanically activated then you should next check the switches for continuity with a multi-meter. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

I press the start button and the washing light just blinks nothing else happens

Sounds like a faulty latch...the dishwasher thinks that the door is open, so it just keeps flashing the lights until it's closed. I'd order and replace the latch

Hood latch

Try spraying the latch mechanism with WD-40 or similar light oil and operating the release cable a number of times. Check the condition of the release cable if nothing happens. The latch itself may have a broken spring due to the low temps.

Clean light flashes constanly. Won't clear out to start new cycle

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Self clean light blinks when you turn oven on (oven does not work)

I had this same problem with mine (still posted under unsolved) This is the simpler model with the old turn style knob and the lever you slide over to lock the door for cleaning What I think (keep in mind I know little about ovens, more about cars) is that the switch that tells the oven the door is latched is staying engaged, and this is part of the lever mechanism. I cleaned and lubed this mechanism (obviously I would guess you want to use a food safe lubricant) and then moved the lever several times with the oven on so I could see if it turned on. After a few tries the cleaning light went off and the oven light came on. No, its not really a technical answer, all indications to me where that the problem was in the switch which is part of the latch mechanism. Good luck
