Hi,
I love my Konica Minolta 2400w, but recently there's a line going down the left side of every page that is printed. Can I clean the drum or something? I can't figure out where / what to wipe/ blow with air. Please be specific with where things are, as I don't know the names of the parts.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

- I think this may be the solution, but it didn't work. I can actually see the lines on the rubber roller thing you suggested I clean. It won't COME CLEAN, no matter how much I wipe. Is there a way to replace this?

- First, thank you so much for your quick help. You made me see what the problem is... But it's not the drum where I see the line... it's a little rubber roller somewhere behind/ beneath the drum. Any thoughts?

- First off, thanks for your quick and helpful responses. You've led me in the right direction!
The thing is, I don't think it's a DRUM anymore, but a rubber roller in the back/ bottom of the thing, somewhere behind/ below the drum. I have no idea whether I can get it out or if I can replace it. I'll see if I can call the places you suggested tomorrow unless you can offer me another solution. I don't know what to search Ebay for...

- Yup. I've got that far. I can ACCESS it, but I can't make it clean (and I'm not sure if I can remove it... I've tried a bit but didn't want to break anything).
I'd think I could replace this part fairly cheaply (yeah right) since there's not much to it... assuming it comes out easily.
By the way, you're great... thanks for not writing me off!

- Thanks!
Nope. Doesn't look anything like that. It's a long, skinny roll that goes all the way across the printer from left to right... just like a drum or toner roller does. It's about 3/4 of an inch in diameter and about 13" long. It's gray, though I'd bet it was black to begin with. It's well above and "further away" than the piece that you showed a photo of.
It's "smooth" rubber ('cept for the lines that it's making) and I assume is simply for paper feeding/ guiding purposes. When I take out the big thing in the middle (is that a drum or the black ink?), it's back beyond that... actually I can see it behind and above the drum(?) thing even when it's in place.
I'm just guessing that's the problem since one of the many lines on it seems to match with the line that I see in my photos.

- Shoot! I just typed in a really long thank you and explanation about what I did/ what I thought the problem was, and then when I rated you, it all disappeared!
I thought the problem was in the "media feed roller" (pg.56 or 62 of the manual you linked me to ... THANKS for that, btw.). So I just kept wiping it until the line looked less obvious.
I also wiped everything inside the printer that I thought I could without ruining it, and behold, the last thing I printed was perfect!
I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I had purchased an HP all in one photosmart (which is fine), but it doesn't print on the cardstock that I need to use some times. I'm SO glad to have my laserprinter back in tip top condition, and very glad I found your site.
Thanks for doing what you do. I dunno if you're paid or not, but I appreciate the great work you do. It's times like this that I really appreciate the www!
Cheers!

- Yup. That looks like the culprit ('course mine is gray... I assume it was originally black, though years might've made it gray).
I tried to get the original one out, but couldn't figure it, so I'm glad that things are looking cleaner on the print!
