Question about GE Washing Machines

4 Answers

I have a FE WCVH6260. Multiple times every cycle the machine door will unlock, and the cycle will stop. It will only restart when the "start/stop" button is pushed again.

The locking mechanism does not appear to be sticking. The wash cycle starts normally, but will stop part way through.

I cleaned the filter out prior to coming to the forum, but it didn't appear to work.

  • I have experienced this problem with a a lot of machines and it almost always was the door lock latch assembly.
  •  it has a switch inside it that pauses or stops the cycle if the door is not closed properly, when this switch malfunctions then it will pause or stop the cycle repeatedly; just from the small movement of the wash cycle.
  • the door will actually be shut all the way and the lock may be on; nothing will seem to be wrong.
  • these door switches are expensive but if you shop around you can get one fairly cheap.

if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Some problems that can occur with your top-loading washing machine are:

There's an error code on the digital display

It doesn't work at all
It won't drain
It doesn't spin
It doesn't agitate
It's noisy
It leaks
It's off balance
There's no hot water
There's no cold water
It's slow to fill
There's no water at all
The clothes are wet after spinning
The cycle doesn't advance
There's no delicate or regular spin or agitate
It's overfilling
It's underfilling
The water temperature is incorrect

Hope this may help;

Please check the door latch device. Be sure that the latch is not bound or sticking in any way. Let me know what you find on the door latch.

I believe that you may have a faulty DSA door switch assembly.

How do I unlock a whirlpool duet washer

from a previous discussion:

Wait at least three minutes after the end of the cycle before attempting to unlock your Whirlpool washer. The door will not unlock until the motor speed equals 0 and 180 seconds have elapsed since the motor control unit received the "Stop" command. If the water in the washer is warmer than 122 degrees Fahrenheit or the water level is set higher than Wool, Delicate or Hand Wash, the washer must drain before the door latch will unlock 2 Hold down the "Control Lock" button on your Whirlpool washer for three seconds at the end of the washing cycle. Listen, and when you hear the unlatching sound, the door should open.3 If your Whirlpool washer did not unlock at the end of Step 1, press and hold the "End of Cycle" button for five seconds to manually reset your washing machine.4 Unplug your Whirlpool washer and leave it unplugged for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, plug your washer back in. The washer's programming should be reset and the door should open.5 Manually unlock the door of your Whirlpool washing machine. Make sure to unplug the appliance before completing the manual unlock. Use a screwdriver to remove the metal strip, called the toe panel, at the bottom of the washing machine. Once you've removed the toe panel, reach up inside the front panel of the washer and feel around for the door latch. Locate the tear-drop shaped tab at the bottom of the door latch and pull it gently. When you hear a click, the door should open.

WFW94HEXW door won't unlock and Door Lock isn't lit

if you machine is warranty you must call to the whirlpool, and get the assistance via online chat. However you must wait about 180 seconds since you did the command STOP, and stop the motor, fi the water level is higher must be drain before the latch door unlock.
2) if do not obey press and hold END OF CYCLE, wait about 10seconds
3) reset the machine unplugged from wall by 45 minutes, and then plug again, and turn on and unlock the door

God bless you

DE code on WM0642HW TROMM washing machine We've been getting this error code on our washing machine for some time. The code is coming up quite frequently now. It stops the cycle so the load is not...

HI, this is a Door Open Error.

Possible Causes are..-

* Door not all the way closed
* Loose electrical connections at door switch and pwb assembly(Control Board)
* Door switch assembly is out of order(Miss aligned)
* Gasket on door may be creased in

Most common issue here will be a defective door lock switch. check all causes before replacing the switch.

GE WCVH6260 stops unexpectantly

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped.

Check your drain with a good pour of water from a bucket, it must clear fast. It it doesn't snake it out; the prob lies there 99%. And don't push your exit hose too deep into the standpipe, 4 to 5 inches & not air tight.

Try some WD40 spray on the door
lock; on machine, not on door. And open & close for a few times with the power off.
