A regions code error means that the player is not compatible to play a DVD from a different region than what it was designed to play. For example, if you purchased your player in the U.S. or Canada then it is a region 1 player and therefore will play DVD's from region 1.
Here is a region map http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/dvd/regions/regions.php
There are however, ways around this as some manufacturers of players have made a way to be able to allow the end user to unlock the software codecs that are for different regions. You will have to search for an online source that has a download or a procedure to follow to unlock your player.
The problem may be you are trying to play DVDs from a specific region (Europe) and the player is set for another region. Region code errors will show up as "no Play" or 'region"
Check the manual to see how to set the player to Region 0. A region machine will play any DVD. Sometimes the setting is on the menu - usually in the set-up screen under "region." I have re-set all my Phillips players to become Region Free through the menu.
