I've used a digital multimeter to test the cable interlink between the
driver board and the laser imaging module. So there is not a broken
link there. Still the error SVC LL ERROR is occuring. The printer will
clear the error and try to warm up again if I open and close the doors,
but never passes the warm up phas, any other places I should be checking for bad contacts that you may know, Mr Waynechurch thanks for the manual of service

There are no drivers for this device for Windows 10 as they printer is 10 years old. There is supposedly a way to get it to work with Windows 10 using VISTA drivers. Here is the link to the MS Community question about it. You can try to use the instructions there. Good luck!
Unfortunately, the Lexmark C500 printer's support ends up to Mac 10.5 operating system only. There's no available driver for Mac 10.6.3. That would explain why you can't install the printer in your computer. Hope I can assist you more on this.
As i'm sure you already know the error means - Laser power is lower than the output limit. It's probably due to a bad contact on the engine board. If you would like the service manual it can be downloaded from the following link free of chargehttp://www.eserviceinfo.com/equipment_mfg/Lexmark_22.html any problems come back to me.
If the cable is ok the problem is either the engine board or the laser assembly, because you were already gettting the svc l1 error, i would go for a replacement printhead (laser/ scanner assembly) first
