It is a possibility that your dvd player is set to the wrong area... Check in the settings menu of your dvd player to se if this can be changed if not try contacting the manufacturer

When I inserted a disc on my home Sony DVD player my screen said" Playback prohibited due to area restrictions". It does play, however, on my office computer DVD player. Thanks, Natalie

DVDs are encoded to a particular region and will only play on dvd players that are encoded to accept that region. Usually a computer dvd reader is region free meaning that it can play DVDs from any region without a problem. For example the USA is region 1 and Austrailia is region 5. A disc made for Australia (region 5) will not play in a standard USA player (region 1). see this link on Wikipedia for more information HERE . The good news is that sometimes you can set up your DVD player to accept discs from any region. If you are interested let me know the exact model of your DVD player and I will look it up. Please rate me well if this has helped.

The unlock method should work for DVD players bought in regions 1 (USA) and 3 (south East Asia)

You need to use a One4All Universal remote for regions 1 & 3

1. Switch on the player
2. Pop open the CD compartment
3. Enter the following code (using the remote): 2812
4. Highlight the region
5. Change to 9 (for Multi-region) using the 'Enter' button
6. Hit 'Clear' to exit
