Sounds like a loose wire! there is nothing you can do without opening up your laptop but if you aren't afraid to do that then you are in luck.
this is generally a good how to on opening up any laptop http://www.ehow.com/how_4826335_open-hp-pavilion-laptop.html
following this, find the wires directly under your mic and that should be where the problem is

You probably have a bad cable going from your motherboard to your screen. The hard part is figuring out which cable that might be. Could be a power cable, or audio cable. If your able to, take the laptop apart and see if any wires look messed up.

PLEASE HELP ME INPUT PASSWORD FOOR WDC WD3200BPVT-22JJ5

You may need to take it to a repair shop so they can reset it by taking the bios battery out, however it is a very extensive process, this is why you should NEVER set such a password.

My daughter dropped her netbook (Gateway NAV50) The picture on the screen no longer fits within the screen. If it was a standalone monitor, I would use the horizontal/vertical position buttons to resize...

Try this. If you right click on the desktop is there Nvidia or Ati or another control panel in the list? Click on that to open the control panel. If you do you can make the horizontal and vertical moves from there. If not you will have to have it repaired or replacement with a newer laptop. Let me know if this worked.

Just bought a pre used asus 1001p netbook with win xp from Amazon. I am just trying to do start up with language settings and when I try to move to next page using green arrow at bottom right hand side of...

Weird. Make sure that there is nothing else on the screen it wants you to select. Sometimes they are not so obvious.
If not, hold the power button down until the computer shuts off and restarts, but like I said, make sure there is nothing else on the screen that it may want you to select.
Hope this helps.

Advent netbook windows not loading on switch on

You will need to do a repair install of the windows operating system. This can be problematic on netbooks with no CD drive unless you have access to an external USB CD drive and a copy of the operating system.

Please rate this solution if it has helped you.
Thanks, Gary

External Mic does not work on my Netbook but works fine elsewhere

All sources of line-in provide a signal with at least 250mv of amplitude. The average pc microphone (condenser type) generates at most 2mV and needs to be powered by the entry in ord.er to work. So it is physically impossible to make a mic work on a line-in connection unless the connector can be configured act like a mike entry - almost all modern ones can.

When I move my screen, the unit powers off

Could the battery be loose in the case and coming off the contacts when you move it? Put a little bit of foam material between the end of the battery and cover to keep it in place.

Laptop mic problem

Marlene,
Yes, it sounds like the mike cable has gone bad. I have no idea what the repair would cost over there. If you were to take it to a repair shop, they should be able to give you an estimate of how much it would cost. I wouldn't think that they would charge you for the estimate.
Hope this information helps.

G1 laptop - display and mic problem

OK ya have a bad connection problem, I think the wires that go between the case and screen may be damaged or loose? in any event ya gonna haveta take it to a repair shop :( The Mic problem MAY be inter-related.. however until ya fix the screen this is a moot point, no? The Mic problem is probably just an incompatibility problem... not aLL mic's work on all pc's even when they work on others.. Oh say try a USB mic they are great.
