I have bought one yera ago an HP Pavillion dv8305 laptop. It has a built in dvdROM player, it was working fine, I could listen to music, watch videos, and burn cd's. Then about a couple of months agoit stopped reading any disc or dvd that I insert, it asks me to insert a disk even when I have a disk in.
When I insert a disk it makes no sound, the disk does not spin, and the green light blinks for four or five times and then it stops. In "my computer" it does not show that there is a disc.
I tried everything to solve the problem, I uninstalled and rebooted, and had the device reinstalled many times, I bought a software called driver detective a couple of weeks ago, thinking that it would repair it, I found that some drivers were outdated, and updated them, it worked for a couple of minutes and it did read the disc, and then it died again.
the fact that it worked for a short time, tells me that the player itself is not damaged, physically, but there is something that I cannot figure out that is preventing it from reading any disc.
I took the laptop to the store where I bought it at "FRY'S" and the checked it and told me that it works fine, they even put a disc and it worked there, when I went home, it worked one time, and then it stopped.
Can you help, please? and if there is a charge for your consultation, I need to know how much it is, so that I know if I can afford it or not.
Thank you,
Noria Treki
P.S. I have installed in my laptop the following:
1-HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA 4084N and 2- FUJITSU MHV 2080AH PL
