Won't load blue ray game - Sony PlayStation® 3 (80GB) Console

If I understand your rather cryptic post correctly...

This very well could be a Blue-Ray disk loaded into a
non-Blue-Ray capable DVD player. Your car player's capabilities MUST match the disc, otherwise, the disc won't play.

I've run into this very same problem with my home DVD players. Which both are non-Blue-Ray capable, but I was able to verify the Blue-Ray discs on my PC.

Blu-rays utilise a blue laser within the drive and DVDs use a red laser.
Sounds like the blu-ray/games reading blue laser has died and it'll need replacing.

The noise is actually a product of dust from a blue ray disc.Over time these discs heat up and leave a residue on the blue ray lens.
Try using a lens cleaner to remove dirt and clean lens.
Also i read an article that using a wireless controler can also cause freezing of the blue ray.

I've been told that Blue Ray movies don't work on PS3 unless you use an HDMI cable; but I haven't tested that. Also, some Blue-ray on PS3 load as movies, some load as games depending on the content. So check the automatic play feature, see if you can select the BD from the video section. On your Xross media bar, go to videos and see if there is a blue disc (BD-rom), click X.

Also make sure that the movie is actually blue-ray. Some old HD movies are sold off on eBay, etc as Blue ray when they aren't. Check it on Blueray.com, if the movie isn't listed it may be HD only.

This is normally because the laser on the drive is slightly off. The good thing is that you can fix this yourself it is quite simple.

Or of course you can send it in to be fixed it is up to you.

If you send it in you will have to pay out about $130 to get it fixed.

The PS3 will not recognize games or movies. You load it and it will not show in up in the menu of options. It powers and shows the normal menu but does not recognize games or dvds regular or blue ray.

sounds like the blue ray lens fried, u should be able to find one on ebay or craigs list not hard to put in

try deleting all files from the Game Data Utility and Saved Data Utility

its most likely your blue ray reader. try putting a dvd or cd in. does it read them fine?. then try a blue ray dvd. if it dosent work search for "playstation mod" and buy a new disk drive. you will have to install it yourself though.
