Door latch appears broken and was only able to open door by using a spoon to push down the latch. Can the latch be replaced without a tradesman

If the tongue on the door is OK and moves under spring tension then you will need a time delay door lock If it is only the latch then you could have a go. It can be awkward to fit the spring around the tongue. Have a good look at it first when you get the door apart to make sure you can see how it fits. Good luck. If we don't try then we would never do any thing would we. But we have to know our limitations Tony www.appliances.cjb.net

How do I fit a new door gasket to a Hoover DT999 dishwasher (the short horizontal seal at the bottom of the door, not the longer one which wraps around the inside of the body of the machine)?

Well I just did this (ew!)

basically it just pulls out of a slot downwards (when doors open) but there's not much space so I took out a few screws to free the door up a bit.

So - sitting with the machine in front of you and door open down towards you:

I took out the two machine screws that hold the door on to the spring/hinge mechanism. Those are the two on the side of the door near to the hinge/bottom.
I also took out 3 of the screws that screw the inside metal bit of the door on to the plastic fron of the door.

You'll notice that the springs then force the inside and outside of the door apart and you've got some free space to pull the bottom seal out of the metal door. Then clean everything and squeeze the new seal in.

You're probably not going to be able to thread it in from one end.

When you're putting those two machine screws back in you'll probably need to do the top screw (nearest you when door open) with the door almost closed so that the spring is most relaxed and will let you line up the two holes.

Hope that helps

Cant get oven door back on

Oven doors are made to lift off for routine maintenance but there might be problems if the spring load hinges are not disabled before pulling the door off the body.

There should be a catch which holds the hinge in the open position but if it is the release position (i.e. the state in which it is in for normal use), the I would expect the hinges to snap into the closed position when the door is removed from the body.

To rectify this, hold each spring loaded arm in the position it would be in the "door open" position and move the catch into the position which prevents the arm springing back when they are released.

It should now be possible to fit the door to the cooker.

When the door is fitted, release the catches.

Large rubber door seal came apart

Yes it can be put back on without taking the drum apart. The larger end goes on the drum side. Fit larger end around drum lip make sure it seals all the way around, install spring around seal. Smaller end goes around door opening. Install seal around outter lip and install spring around seal.

Hotpoint CTD00 Door Catch Replacement

If yuo are referring to the catch on the door, then undo all the scews holding the 2 halves of the door together, and prize apart, fit new door catch.
If you mean the door lock, then you will have to remove the top cover and right hand side panel to access the door lock.
Hope this helps.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

Dishwasher door won't close

OUrs did the same, it was a tiny spring that needed replacing. We just turned off at mains, unscrewed front and took out the unit. Took broken spring out and found one at our local DIY shop. fitted and put back in. ALOT cheaper than replacing the unit!

Replace door catch on hoover nextra

Once off, you have to take out any screws holding the inner and outer doors together.
Then, prise the two halves apart. Do this on a flat surface as the glass will then be loose.
Have a look at how the old handle goes together. Make particular note of how the springs are fitted as this is the hardest part to get right.
It's not the easiest job to do, but put the new one together and fit into the door, re-assemble the two halves, refit the door to the machine.

Have a great day!

I had the same problem, so I took the door apart as explaned above, found it was gunged up with residue from the washihg cycles. Gave it a good clean, while the part was disconected of course, and hay presto! the door works like new again.
