This is what i got from Josh Smith Online, this work-around requires opening the appliance, so before you start and follow this, please check on the warranty status of the unit.

error HO2 which more or less means the unit is shot. The problem centers round a spindle issue that is a known design flaw. Basically what happens is that the spindle gets warm, expands, and is then pushing on the top of the player .

You can see the tray which rotates with the DVD in. To fix this HO2 error I first had to start the spin by pushing the dvd counterclockwise gently. After that the DVD player would work but only without the cover on. This is the solution for now, though I plan to modify the case some in order to use the cover again. For now the DVD player slides into our entertainment stand and hides the fact that the cover is missing.

It would need for this player to get to a repair shop however it is not advisable that you still get it repaired it would cost you as much as a new player...there are support available but again you would be spending as much as 2-3 new cheaper players..

You can try doing this remove the top of the unit, place a disk in the unit press play and gently give the DVD a gentle push in a clockwise direction.
This disk should then get up to speed and start playing. It also unlocks the error.
This is a solution by expert bmwrider before and it work for the other client before you may want to try that..

Good luck.....

An HO2 error is either a problem with the optical pickup or a spindle. This means that there is something stuck near the optical pickup. It is possible to fix this by shaking the unit although I would advise against that. It would be best if you take the unit in for repair although you can open the device and check the lens and spindle are for anything that might have stuck.

Code HO2 means that your player is sensitive to scratches on cd's or dvd's so they won't play

IS the dvd player covered by warranty?

ho2 seems to be a problem with the disk motor that spins the disk, its not spining.

another expert on this website has suggested a possible fix to this:

IF YOUR DEVICE IS COVERED BY WARRANTY DONT OPEN IT contact your dealer instead for repairs or replacement.

Remove the top of the unit, be carefull not to touch things, touching the wrong thing can give you a shock. After you have removed the top, place a disk in the unit press play and gently give the dvd a gentle push in a clockwise direction.

The disk should then get up to speed and start playing and clear the error code.

Basicly the motor is either faulty or 'stuck' you need to give it a little spin. if that doesn't work you will most likely have to get it replaced.

Credits to BMWRider for poiting out what the problem.

You listed the TV, what kind of DVD player?
And...
Did it work before, and it stopped working?
Did you just hook it up, and it has never worked?
Have any other components been changed recently?
Does it do it with all disks in the DVD or just one of them?

You can access the set up mode menu if you have the TV mode.
The DVD should be hook up to the TV using A/V inputs using yellow, red and white cables and select A/V 1 or any other input where the cables are connected to.

S video displays, but Component video is intermittant

Shall we assume that the DVD is fine, before addressing the TV issues? Does it work with any other device or component? Seems that if your S Video is clean, then it's just a matter of refining whether your DVD is as well. Check that, and let us know.

Hello, The problem could be dirt on the surface of the lens, you can clean this by removing the cover of the dvd player . Gently use a dry cotton bud to clean the lens because the lens is fragile. Insert the disc plate into the dvd player and press play, if it does not play try the second method. Ensure the cover of the player is open, connect the power plug to the mains socket and observe the lens if it beam a red light, Also check the ribbon cable use to connect the lens to the printed circuit board, then gently clean the lens with a dry cotton bud , insert the disc plate and press play to see if it play. If it does not play the disc, then this require a change of the lens

You need to use the video and audio outs located in the rear of the samsung player, or if you want to use the rf connector(atenna in) on the tv you need to select analog channel 3 or 4 to get a picture through, you can down load an owners manual at wwwretrevo.com.

The following works on a region 4 player. With no disc in the player and the drawer closed, press stop, stop, setup, then 3,8,8,8,3 and the desired region code, (0 for multiregion). Nothing will appear on screen. Then switch the player off and back on. It should now play discs for any region

DVD Player not working

Go to menu. Select inputs. Assign input 1(or whatever input you connectedthe dvd to) as DVD. Then exit menu. Press the input key, scroll over to DVD. I reccomend using a component cable with a digital audio cable, if you do not have a DVD player that has an HDMI connection. You will find that a blu-ray player will be much more satisfying for the television you have. Basically by hooking up that old dvd player to that tv, is the same as hooking an 8-track to a $2,000.00 stereo. It will work, but the quality is going to suffer! Good luck, and believe me. It is worth the extra money to get a blu-ray player. It will play all your old dvd's and blu-rays. That way you are getting the full potential of your set.

Can't display Pal on My Sony 57" KP-57WS520

There are probably a few problems here. What are you using to play the disc? Some NTSC players will "play" a PAL disc but interpret it as NTSC with the symptom you are describing. You need a DVD player that will play PAL. Many of those will output NTSC directly when set up to do so. The other alternative is to have a PAL compatible player that will output PAL into the converter. To narrow this down specifically, please post the model numbers and the connection scheme for your equipment. Once I understand your current setup, I should be able to describe a method to get this to work for you.

Video input from dvd player shows as black screen w/ squigly color lines

have you tried other devices for input...vcr, or other dvd players to see if it is a problem with the player or with the tv? Check the output setting for the dvd player (1080i etc) and ensure you are connecting to the proper inputs for either analog or digital signals (RCA inputs or RGB).
