A few problems have arose from upgrading your Windows on HP machines. A HP laptop I used to own did the same thing to me when upgrading from Vista to 7. I would recommend looking for updates on HP's website. If you cannot find any, which I wasn't able to, I would use a program called Speedfan.

http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php.

I hope that helps.

HP M7357c overheating problem

When the CPU in the computer or laptopoverheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot upagain until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then theCPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

My HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop will not stay powered on! Will only stay powered on for about 20 seconds. I 'air dusted ' all fans and vents.

The HP DV series are known for bad motherboards and yours sounds to have the symptom indicating a failed motherboard. You can try different ram and see if thats it or remove the hard drive and power it on and see if it shuts down without it.If it still shuts off its most likely the infamous DV series curse

I have an Hp pavilion slimline s3100n pc and after a while, it just shuts off with no warning whatsoever. When I try to turn it back on, it just shuts right back off. It's like I have to wait for it to...

Verify your fans are for the CPU and case are moving. You can remove the Pc cover and turn on the Pc. Watch the cooling fan on top of your CPU heat sink, it should begin spinning when you turn on your PC. If it doesn't then with the PC unplugged, make sure the connector for the fan is seated properly. From behind the PC you should be able to feel the Power Supply cooling fan moving air. Either of these could cause your PC to over heat and shut down.

WIFE USING LAPTOP, SUDDENLY SAID SHUT DOWN ,screen went black, but power stays on and will not shut down

Most of the time when a laptop or a PC does that it is over heating.

If you noticed that the CPU fan is going real fast and the laptop is pretty warm its probably overheating due to dust getting inside by the fan.

If it is buy a can of compressed air at your local store at push the air the opposite way that it is comming out.

Broken fan on compaq

don't keep running it until you replace the fan. Look for one on ebay or around the web. It is shutting down because of heat. A $20 fan could cost you your whole laptop if you keep running it.

HP color laser 4600dn FAN noise

Yes this is normal. Everytime someone prints, the printer exits power saving mode and the fan will stay on. If you leave it on and don't print to it overnight, the fan would shut off in the mornig. But you probably turn the printer off everynight and are printing all day, so you don't really have to expectthe fan to power down unless its not being used for an long period of time idleing.
