I have a Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer / Dryer (this is a guess - it's a stacked Kenmore. The dryer will not open.

I have a Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer / Dryer (I believe it's a stacked Kenmore. The dryer won't open. Maklean says "get a repair kit." What am I supposed to do with a repair kit? Also, how do I communicate with the people who are responding? When I click on "get assistance," I am asked for my credit card info, which I already gave. I do not want to be charged repeatedly. Thank you.

Also, how do I communicate with the people who are responding? I got a message from Techexpert12 which seems to refer to a washer. My dryer door won't open - there are no "select" and "speed" buttons.

I have a Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer / Dryer (I believe it's a stacked Kenmore. The dryer won't open. Voodoomox (who I do not know how to respond to directly) recommended I unplug it. The washer/dryer is in a small wall space - the power outlet is unreachable unless I move it, which I cannot do. I will need to hire someone to move it, because it's extremely heavy. Is this the most likely solution?

I still do not know how to respond directly to people who respond to me without clicking get assistance, and being asked for my credit card info again. So I am using this repost each time. Pauman suggests it's the door latch, which sounds right. However, removing the front panel is not obvious to me. If I revove the dryer knob, there are two screws behind it, about a half inch apart. The other knobs don't appear to come off. Are these the two screws that you refer to? Thank you.

Turning the dryer knob several times around, then giving the door a strong yank and it worked! Thank God I didn't have to pull out the washer/dryer unit from the wall - it is very heavy and would have required professional help. Thanks for your help!

The first thing to try is to turn the dial a couple of times in case of a bad connection at the dial. If that doesn't work then what you need to do is pull the whole machine away from the wall and start removing the dryer outer panel. There will be screws on the back that hold this panel on. Once you get this off, you should have access to the switch of the door which then you can remove and replace if found to be faulty. Make sure to have it unplugged when working on it. Please let me know how this is going and what problems or questions that you run into, responding here will be just fine and you should not have to pay multiple times.

No need to pay again, have you checked on techexpert's suggestion? you may also leave the appliance unplugged from the outlet to reset the possible programming, leave it unplugged for an hour or two.

Try: Program the select knob at 6 o'clock position. Speed at 9 o'clock. Press pre-wash and the power button together for 4 to 5 seconds. Hopefully it will unlock

Driver side door

Hi Paul, I'm glad to help! Most problems with door handles that won't open the door is broken parts inside the door. Pull the door panel off and move the handle while watching inside the door to see what is broken. Once you've found the broken part, simply replace it. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Paul.

Hi Paul, Im glad to help!

Paul, when you can't open a vehicle door from inside the car, it is because either the latch is bad OR the handle is broken OR the rod /cable that goes from the handle to the latch is either off OR broken. Call me Al 314-374-5218 hope this helps and have an awesome day Paul.

Where is door sensor miro switch located is it at the top or behind where door is ? regards Paul

Look at the door, there should be a tang on it that goes into a slot on the dryer.
The switch should be behind that slot

Dryer will not start

The temperature of the air being exhausted is monitored by the cycling thermostat and the thermal fuse mounted on the blower housing. The thermal fuse, which is wired in series with the motor circuit, fails when the cycling thermostat fails to regulate the exhaust air temperature. Failure of the thermal fuse results in the motor not running and the dryer not working at all.

Remove the dryer real panel to access the blower housing and check the continuity of the thermal fuse. Grab a volt-ohmmeter and set it to the R X 1 scale then disconnect one wire from the thermal fuse terminals then check the continuity of the thermal fuse. Replace the thermal fuse should it read open.

Indicate the exact model number of the dryer for specific troubleshooting and repair advice if you need further assistance and for the exact part numbers.

The main cause with this model is water still in machine. Try a spin and look for water in drum. To empty manually lower drain hose into bowl untill empty. Door should then open.

Locked door

Probably the latch is wedged with the item you jammed in it..
While trying to pull the door open you might try using the palm of the other hand to hit the area next to the latch. When and if you get back in and hopefully without breaking something, take the switch out and bend the metal lever on it so it sets higher and thus allowing the door to make better/earlier contact. It might be possible to get at the latch from underneath if you lay the unit on its back????Not sure, but worth a try. Let me know if you need more help.
