Vertical lines and top third of screen is wavy

Model hlp5063wx/xaa. TV started to display "wavy" or "oil on water" apperance only on top 1/3 of screen. Now, in addition to above, tv has very thin evenly spaced white or grey vertical lines over entire screen.

effects are not constant, sometimes there, sometimes not.

I have been told by a local service rep that the light engine may be the problem. Anyone have any experience changing one out for model HLP5063W Samsung 50" DLP?

It may be an electronic interference problem or loose antenna connection. Inspect antenna direction and wiring. Does problem exist when playing video?

Three coloured lines appered on the screen - no picture

If there is no picture and 3 vertical lines in the center of the screen, stop. Turn off TV. You have no horizontal deflection happening. Lines will burn into crts and be permanently visible after repair.

No horizontal deflection is caused by Horizontal sweep circuit failure, maybe flyback transformer and associated components. More than a simple do-it-yourself repair.

My tv has this lines that bend over the front top of the screen and when an object moves through the lines the image appers from the the top of where the line begins...and the tv goes black every once and...

This sounds like a vertical deflection fault. There are some components that are failing in the vertical deflection area that are starting to fail. It is very common in many of the sets that there are electrolytic capacitors in the vertical amp section that are gong out of specifications.

When you have at the top or the bottom of the screen where the vertical axis is compressed, and the picture in the compressed area looks like it is inverted and going over on itself, this is called "vertical fold-over".

An experienced TV service technician should be able to service this for you.

Two vertical lines one at 1/3 screen the other at 2/3's of screen

I have not fixed it yet. But I have identified the chip that is causing the problem. If you have a service manual scan it and post it please, so I can show you the chip.
